Nas, the “King of New York” released his fifth studio album, Stillmatic on this day in 2001. Due to the beef between Nas and Jay-Z at the time, Stillmatic proved to the world who is STILL the best MC in the area alive.
Nas and Jay-Z had one of the biggest feuds in rap history. With it being the theme of that era, Nas’ LP brought an aggressive flavor to the game. Released on Columbia Records, the album debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200 chart and sold 342,600 albums in its first week. This “comeback” album is hands down one of the greatest albums in HipHop to date.
