Mediating is a power that we all have. It unlocks our subconscious mind to see things in a different way. Originally a Buddhist practice, mindfulness has assimilated into western culture. Mediating does not mean that you have to strictly follow Buddhism but it means you can appreciate the culture to allow it enhance your life.

I have used mediation to battle a lot of issues in my own life, like fighting anxiety and it has improved my mental health.

Here I will give you tips so you can use meditation in your daily lives:

When you first start to meditate, I would suggest that you use a video to help you since it can be difficult when you first start. There are thousands of pages on Youtube that help people in guided meditations.

Here is one of my favorites:

First, you must use breathing exercises to help you out so you can clear your mind of all external possessions. You can breathe in for one second and then breathe out for two, and then climb up the latter. Or you can breathe in for two seconds and breathe out for four, and then climb up the latter. You can also do increments of five and breathe out for ten. If you think about something that is bothering you or something that takes you away from the moment- start back off at one. Don’t beat yourself up if you have to do this a lot the first time. Also if you do experience thoughts, notice that they are there and push them away gently.

You should do this for about five minutes, and if you get good at it- you can meditate for more than twenty minutes. I would say try to do it for at least once a day, and you can really start seeing the results.

If you are a beginner, you should try to meditate with a group of people because that encourages you to also be mindful. Some of the best mediations I have had was with another person or a large group.

Overall, mediation is a power that we can all unlock that puts our problems in perspective and brings us closer to ourselves. I hope you have been inspired to start meditating and I wish you luck on your spiritual journey.
