According to HipHopDX, Jamie Wexler, founder of thisisrnb.com and Tapemasters Inc., has passed away. In late 2018, Wexler was diagnosed with stage 4 high-grade neuroendocrine carcinoma, a rare form of cancer that spreads very quickly.

His wife, Kadeja Wexler, has set up a GoFundMe page for the costs that her husband’s sudden death has caused. She was clearly taken very much by surprise, commenting on the page, “It’s unclear why a fit and full of life 37 year old, could be taken so suddenly.” Kadeja continued, saying she is trying to “find comfort in knowing he has found peace, and will now be the guardian angel watching over our boys … I will do my best to instill the values and passion for music and sports so his legacy can live on in our children.” Such a tragedy often paralyzes people so it’s reassuring to see her have a positive mindset.

Founded in 2008, the blog thisisrnb.com was a great platform for up incoming singers to get recognized. While also reporting on the hip hop world at large, the site was an excellent source for promoting new artists. Also, Wexler founded Tapemasters Inc. in 2004 which was a huge name in the mixtape game before streaming arrived.

There will be a home-going ceremony at West Laurel Funeral Home, Cala Cynwyd, PA on Tuesday May 29th. My condolences to the Wexler family, and may Jamie’s legacy be lived on by all who knew him.
