Surprisingly and yet also unsurprisingly, a San Francisco based radio station has banned Drake music from its playlists for the duration of the NBA Finals. The station is called KBLX and this news comes to us view The Mercury Review.
For anybody who somehow didn’t know. Drake is a Toronto Raptors super-fan and has been quite dramatic with his courtside support of the Raptors against the feared Golden State Warriors.
Elroy Smith, KBLX operations and programs director, spoke about the ban: “(We) could not stand on the sidelines and accept Drake showing no love for our Golden State Warriors. It is my joy to cease and desist all of Drake’s music on KBLX in support a team that is loved by the Bay Area and around the world. Oh yes, we are proclaiming a 3-peat.”
Though he is likely right implying that Drake’s fervent support for The Raptors may be taking a toll on The Warriors and their fanbase, Smith’s later statement that the ban was because of Drake “showing no love for our Golden State Warriors”, is not entirely true. Drake has both Steph Curry and Kevin Durant tattoos on his arm. Drake’s later statement that “all is fair in war and war” (a reference to “all is fair in love and war”) is actually quite descriptive.
