The Marvel Netflix shows are always a sore spot for fans of the shows. On the one hand, the shows hit the ground running, with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage being amongst some of the best streaming shows on Netflix at the time. On the other hand, as the shows continued, they were plagued by terribly received second seasons. Also, the disappointing first season of Iron Fist, and The Defenders place the quality of the shows into question. Despite Marvel Netflix’s recovery with the amazing Daredevil season 3, and Punisher, what no one saw coming was Disney’s move into streaming. With the arrival of Disney+ all the Netflix Marvel shows started to get canceled, for a brief moment, you could not turn on the news without seeing an announcement that one of the shows got canceled.

While none of the shows were ever considered canon, fans always hoped that one quick rewrite and we would be able to see Jessica Jones argue with Iron Man. Making the Netflix shows canon never seemed to be in the cards, which is a shame because with shows such as Wanda Vision, and Falcom and Winters Soldier premiering in Disney+, new fans might not be able to the see some of the best performances in all of Marvel.

On his podcast Kevin Smith’s Fatman Beyond, Smith addressed the rumor of a Matt Murdock showing up in the next Spider-Man movie, hinting that Cox’s name has been floated around as a possibility. “I heard another piece of good fuckin’ news,” he said. “Did You hear that Spider-Man, the new Spider-Man movie, gonna have a lawyer in it? Charlie Cox, they’re bringing in as Matt Murdock. That’s been the rumor online and they say that’s like the one that like Marvel’s like god damn it how did that get out?”

Kevin Smith had access to insider information before, but as always, take any rumor with a grain of salt. As for why introduce Matt Murdock in Spiderman, in the comics Daredevil is famous for being Peter Parker’s lawyer, he was even introduced in the Spiderman (1994) cartoon as Peter’s lawyer. This connection is perfect, especially as Spiderman: Far From Home Ended with Peter’s identity coming out to the public via cameo of J. Jonah Jamerson.

What do you guys think? Is this the best way to reintroduce Daredevil into the MCU, or should the characters get another shot in Disney+?
