HBO has always been one the best providers of premium television, providing some of the best shows ever made, such as Oz, and Game of Thrones. Despite one offering programming from their HBO line up, HBO GO and HBO NOW have maintained two of the best streaming services around. However, with the rise of Disney+, Warner Media. announced that they would launch HBO Max a streaming service that brings together programing from other branches of Warner Bro Media, including Comedy Central, Cartoon Network, and HBO.
The streaming service promises new programming, including a new season of Boondocks. Another selling point is the complete library of Friends episode along with South Park, and Rick and Morty. HBO Max was expected to come out this year, but it went silent as Disney+ started gaining traction. However, with recent global events, Warner Media, announced that HBO Max would officially debut next month on May 27.
In an official announced an HBO representative announce, “Our number one goal is having extraordinary content for everyone in the family, and the HBO Max programming mix we are so excited to unveil on May 27th will bear that out,” Robert Greenblatt, chairman of WarnerMedia entertainment and direct-to-consumer, said in a statement. “Even in the midst of this unprecedented pandemic, the all-star teams behind every aspect of HBO Max will deliver a platform and a robust slate of content that is varied, of the highest quality, and second to none.”
HBO Max, it set to debut on May 27, with a price tag of $14.99. The price tag might seem a little steep compared to Disney +, but keep in mind that Disney Plus does include a bundle for $12.99 which includes both Hulu and ESPN. While two dollars less than HBO Max, the library still doesn’t compare, with most of Hulu’s programming also tied behind other paywalls.
I believe that HBO Max is the most bang for your buck, the amount of content will rival that of Disney+ without the family-friendly restrictions.
