[ENTERTAINMENT] [BUSINESS] Sony Reportedly Rates “Venom” PG-13, not R Like Many Fans Expected
Looks like “Venom” will not be Rated-R In Theaters…
“Venom,” hits theaters this October and is officially rated PG-13, according to Eric Davis, managing editor of Fandango, the movie’s ticketing website. Davis clarifies, Sony wants Venom to have an epic showdown with Spider-Man in future movies.
Venom, Spider-Man’s most notorious villain, played by Topher Grace in “Spider-Man 3” to be replace by Tom Hardy to save the day as a anti-hero.
On Thursday (Sep. 13, 2018) Davis tweeted, “#Venom is officially rated PG-13. Hearing from studio sources the reason is so that Venom and Spider-Man can face off at some point down the line. If the movie is R, it’s hard to

casting Tom Holland as Spider Man.
Sony did not relinquish all their rights to the franchise. They controlled distribution rights and the final creative control of all “Spider-Man” movies, leaving Marvel with little-to-nothing to work with. Marvel could have Spider-Man appear in their movies as a character, but nothing too elaborate.
“Venom” has a lot of potential to be a great PG-13 rated movie. Children and adults will love it. Watch it when it appears in theaters on Oct. 5, 2018. I just hope Marvel can make it appear interesting for its teenage parental guidance rating.
Back in 2002, first “Spider-Man” movie, Sony controlled all filming rights. In 2015 Marvel Studios cut-a-deal with Sony giving Marvel creative control for Marvel’s Cinematic Universe
Your feedback is encouraged. So, what do you think, will this movie flop or pop in theaters with its new rating?
