We are only a few days away from the 2019 Grammy awards in Los Angeles on Sunday (Feb 10) which most people probably aren’t going to watch. Many of the nominated artist are scheduled to perform such as Cardi B, Travis Scott, and Post Malone. 21 Savage would have performed if it wasn’t for his legal troubles.
But he’s not the only artist that’s not performing, being for different reasons Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and Childish Gambino also declined to perform at the Grammys. While they are all up for nominations with Kendrick leading the way with 9, it’s become very clear that Hip-Hop don’t mess with the Grammy’s.
According to Nytimes interview with longtime producer of the grammy’s Ken Ehrlich “When they dont take home the big prize, the regard of the academy, and what the Grammys represent, continues to be less meaningful to the hip-hop community, which is sad.” But nobody really respects the Grammys anymore because they are not in tune with the culture.
For the past few years the award show has gotten many things wrong lack of diversity, barley any women winning awards, the wrong people winning awards, like when Macklemore won album of the year over Kendrick Lamar, not in a million years would that ever happen at any other award show.
Also with Ariana Grande going on a twitter rant about the show and backing out of it because of the comments made from Ken, this is going to a very talent-less show for the host Alicia Keys.

It seems like everybody is on ten when it comes to the 21 Savage situation. Not only did Demi Lovato and Wale get into a twitter spat over her joke during the Superbowl. Which promptly lead too demi deactivating her account shortly after.
But then that was followed up with our normal ignorant white girl Tomi Lauren making her comments on the situation.
But The Game made quick work of her posting before and after pictures of her plastic surgey.
But today it seems like Chris Brown and Offset are the next two people to get into a back and fourth on instragram over some comments.
Offset then proceeds to call Chris Brown a alleged cokehead, for which Chris fires back at Offset.
From reading this comment it seems like Chris and Offset might’ve had beef behind the scenes that’s finally coming to the forefront now. 21 Savage situation is no joke and many immigrants go through this on a regularly basics especially with Trump in office. I hope everybody can calm down and put all their energy in helping and supporting 21 Savage.

New Jersey very own Coi Leray is starting 2019 off the right way, releasing her EC2 album this past weekend. For many people that don’t know Coi is also the daughter of Hip-Hop executive Benzino. Coi Leray first jump on the scene towards the end of 2017 with breakout hits “Pac Girl” and “G.A.N.” She followed that up with her debut mixtape EverythingcoZ, which was released in March 2018. But things really got taken up a notch when she released her banger “Huddy”, by Republic Records at the end of 2018. The music video for “Huddy” got 1.6+ million views on Youtube, while racking up 370K+ spins on Soundcloud in 4 months.
The Jersey emcee has enjoyed her new found fame by appearing on the soundtrack for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse with Ski Mask & Jacquees on “Save the Day.” Also she is on tour with Trippie Redd on Redd’s 2019 Life’s A Trip Tour. The nationwide tour starts January 26 in Sauget, Illinois, to February 28 in Seattle, Washington.
Now back to EC2 which is laced with 9 tracks lead by her hit “Huddy”, with her lone feature coming from Trippie Redd on “Big Dawgs.” The female emcee can not only rap but her singing skills were on full display on “All Black”, with her talking never trusting a guy again because he painted her heart black. On the next track “VVS”, she humble brags about all the designer she can afford now while also splitting money with her gang. Coi Leray gets into her feelings on “To The Moon”, where she missing her love hoping he comes back so they can vibe all night. Coi is definitely leading the charge with the New Jersey Music Scene bubbling up with stars everywhere.
You can stream EC2 on all music platforms and watch out for Coi, I think she has a big chance to overthrow all the dolls for the top female emcee spot. With all of Jersey backing her it’s only a matter of time.
