[Music] Tyler The Creator Announces New Album

Tyler The Creator announced his new project,Igor, earlier this afternoon via Twitter. The album is his fifth studio project and the follow up to Flower Boy; his most accomplished work both critically and commercially.

The album, due out on May 17, was partially teased via social media earlier last week, when Tyler tweeted out what appears to be a promotional video. The music from the video sounds like a classic Tyler track: low fidelity production with synths echoing throughout.

No official track list or singles have been released as of yet, but one would expect that stuff is coming soon. Tyler has undergone quite the evolution since the start of his Odd Future days. His sound has gone from edgy, shock lyrics to vibrant and mature songs that have really made him a better artist.

[News] Soulja Boy Sentenced To 240 Days in Jail

[News] Soulja Boy Sentenced To 240 Days in Jail

TMZ is reporting that rapper Soulja Boy was sentenced to 240 days in jail and 265 days of community service due to violation of his probation.

The Atlanta rapper was caught forging his probation community service hours, as well as having weapon ammunition in his home. The judge has credited him with 40 days served, so it is a lenient sentence from the court.

It seems like Soulja got off a bit easy here, consider the judge could have issued a two year sentence. Instead, it’ll be just eight months behind bars for the often trouble rapper.

Soulja Boy resurfaced into the mainstream late 2018, early 2019, after he started selling a laundry list of bizarre electronic items, most notably the “Soulja Game;” a video game console.

Soulja Boy also had a memorable appearance on the Breakfast Club, where he put on a very memorable, meme-worthy, performance. Since then, it has been a bit of a come down from the alleged Soulja renaissance.

As for the jail sentencing, that is all the information that is available now, we will update accordingly if more information surfaces.

[Music] ‘Acid Rap’ Turns Six Years Old Today

[Music] ‘Acid Rap’ Turns Six Years Old Today

Six years ago, a Chicago kid named Chancellor Bennett released his second mixtape, Acid Rap, and the rest is history. Chance The Rapper created one of the most iconic and critically acclaimed records of the 21st century and today we celebrate its existence.

Chance, then a relative unknown, followed up his first mixtape 10 Day with a drug induced sound, utilizing his raspy voice and creative production team to make an incredible, innovative record. The thing that makes Acid Rap such a triumph, is that it is so uniquely original it became immensely clear that Chance was destined to be a star.

The tape features a bevy of collaborators, most of whom were relatively unknown, or at least not nearly as popular as they are now. Childish Gambino, Noname, Saba, Vic Mensa and Action Bronson all stopped by to record a feature on the mixtape. When a project is filled with features there is typically a good chance that some of them are lost in the midst of everything else happening on the record, but on Acid Rap each guest on their respective track really makes their time memorable.

Chance follow Acid Rap with his most recent mixtape, Coloring Book. Released in 2015, Coloring Book was a diversion from the acid induced sound, and instead exchanged for a fusion of gospel, jazz and rap music. While the projects sound quite different, it’s a testament of the talent and artistry Chance possesses, and his ability to create new and exciting projects. He announced earlier this year, that his debut studio album will be released some time during July of 2019.

Bump some Acid Rap today, and let us hope that Chance continues to pump out classics. What is your favorite track? Leave a comment below and let us know.
