We will respect your space Logic but that is a sad ending for such a short story. They might have wanted to figure out they were better as friends before getting married. Oh well, it’s his life. Maybe they split because Jessica thought the new mixtape was so bad, or couldn’t handle Logic’s obsession with Rick and Morty? I’m glad they didn’t end on bad terms, but it might have given him more material to write on his next album.
I am currently at a time where I can’t seem to find any music and nothing really pops out at me. I have been experiencing this the last couple of weeks and it has been making me mad. I usually go to the Youtube recommendation page to find my new music but I decided to go to Spotify to give me a song this time. I went to the discovery playlist and found this song, “Feel It” by GTA and What So Not featuring Tunji Ige.
You can listen to it here:
I love this song because it’s a fun track with a great mix of vocals and rap. The highlight of this track is the second verse during Tunji’s addition as he raps,
“We been livin’ like a party
Uh, I ain’t trippin’ if you saw me
Ayy, you playin’ games like Atari
Bring it back, i think ya lost me”
He kind of sounds like Drake if you really listen to it! I think it’s a great dance track to get lost in.
I have also never listened to this artist before and it gave me the inspiration to listen to his other tracks and he’s pretty great and gaining great traction on Spotify. Hopefully, GTA will make a more prominent name for themselves in music this year.
The first part that really annoys me about this song is that is it generic. Obviously. Not only is it a generic pop song, the lyrics are so horrible that I can’t even sing along with it.
I know there is a lot of breakup songs out there but this one is just selfish.
I have re-written what the lyrics ACTUALLY mean here:
“I’ve been thinking of you because I’m bored with my life!
Sorry for traumatizing you and making you not believe in love
Wish you could have done that to me so I wouldn’t have felt so bad
And I’m probably only singing this because the karma I have been getting from it is really starting to become a b*tch
I hope someone loves you because I led you on and I am not going to accept the fact that I also had a part in the reason we fell off but I’m just going to act like the bigger person and write a song about it for pity from other people!”
You can’t break up with someone and then go to tell people that you hope someone loves them. That was your job!? Then at the end of this chorus where she claims she feels bad about the situation she has the nerve to put in the lyric, “let me go.”
The whole song is condescending and if you actually find yourself singing along to it maybe you should readjust how you look at yourself and figure out that once you hurt someone, they owe you nothing. Also, Hailee Steinfeld, I’m pretty sure the person who you wrote this about doesn’t wish you the best. You can’t just “make a mess” and then become the victim? Ridiculous but hilarious.
There have been around 30 mass shootings in 2018 and it is only March. It seems like, after another headline, there is a new one waiting to make the news. It has gotten legitimately ridiculous to turn a blind eye against what is happening in the United States, but no gun control laws have been passed at the federal level. It has gotten to the point where we need to start having protests to make it clear to the government that we will not stand for this type of neglect.
But some schools threatened suspension or other punishments, for what? All these students are doing is protesting their right not to get shot in school. School has become the breeding ground for hate and if one doesn’t think it can happen to them, they are mistaken. Shootings are getting way too common for us to make that statement anymore.
The students that organized the March For Our Lives put out a statement that read,
Under threat of suspension just one student walked out of Sayreville HS this morning #1010wins. Administrators warned students not to walk out pic.twitter.com/AEEFiThf7O
I hope that gun laws can change soon so kids can go to school for an education and not be distracted by literally being shot. The government needs to humble itself down and realize that these gun laws are doing more harm than good. Even though it is a right, it is just too big of a threat. Hopefully there will be more walkouts that I can participate in. We have to fight for what is right and hopefully we can see change this year before it’s too late.
What we see in the trailer is a suspenseful movie filled with twists as Jennifer Lawrence depicts a character that goes outside her comfort zone as an actress. From the trailer we could except the main character to be worn down with psychological manipulation until she loses her sense of self. But what we get is none of that.
The movie is based on the 2013 novel by former CIA operative Jason Matthews. The movie is sexually charged but at times it gets rather uncomfortable from the scenes of assassination, torture and attempted rape. The rape scenes were horrific and not really well done. It was shocking to see it on such a large screen and I felt like most of the time it didn’t have to be depicted that brutally- and frequently. One wants to come out of the theater satisfied with the movie they watched, but some of the scenes made me want to walk out. Also in the movie, Lawrence gets deported to a “whore school” and the scenes are not really that great even though it is supposed to set up the tone for the entire movie. It really just adds time to the already long movie, so it should have just been shortened. How many times are you going to show an uncomfortable sex scene for us to get the point?
The movie is also way too long. It had several scenes that should have been cut because the main point already got across. I don’t know why they had so many scenes at the pool? Also, it made it very easy to lose interest. It was so long and confusing that you didn’t really want to stick around for the whole picture. I understand wanting to show the whole picture in its entirety but two and a half hours is a long time especially when the plot is almost never advancing and when it does, it is confusing. I couldn’t help but be glued to the screen for every single detail that went on so I could depict what was going on. I think I spaced out for two minutes and lost half of what was going on.
When the ending scene finally happens, almost no one understands how the events lead to it. Until the movie flashes back to multiple scenes where Lawrence is setting up the enemy. In a good movie, everyone can understand the ending of the movie without the help of flashbacks. Then when you get the explanation you don’t even clearly understand how she did it. Don’t ask the person sitting next to you what’s happening because they don’t know either.
Overall Jennifer Lawrence was great in this movie and really saved it from being absolutely horrible. Or I might have a bias because she is one of my favorite actresses but the movie falls short. I feel if you have a really long confusing movie, there should be a lot of scenes that grab the audience’s attention to make them think, but this movie only has a couple stand out scenes. One walks away from almost a three-hour movie with no gratification for even watching it. If you’re thinking of watching this movie, stay home and hopefully it is not nominated for any undeserving awards.
