Miley Cyrus Joins Lil Nas X, The Veronica, and DJ Seb for the Australian Bushfire Relief Concert

Miley Cyrus joins Lil Nas X, The Veronicas, and DJ Seb as a headliner for the World Tour Bushfire Relief, a concert being held on Friday, March 13, at the Lakeside Stadium in Melbourn.

The concert is a partnership effort by Jada Pickett Smith and Will Smith’s Westbrook Inc, with Apollo World Touring, TEG Dainty and AgBioEN. All proceeds will go to multiple Australian Charities to help restore burned homes and the wildlife that were effect by the wildfire.

The World Tour was created in order to “build a new model of music tour, inspiring global music fans to play their part in accelerating the transition to a climate friendly, sustainable future,” according to a news release.

Back in June 2019, Australia’s fire season began with droughts affecting 95% of the state, followed by dry and warm winds. This combination would lead to an increase in bushfires (both through human error and natural). Despite being common during that time of year, it is the increase of climate change that has had a drastic impact on the situation with the fires becoming even more severe, with a wider reach. With a reported, more than 20% of Australia’s forest burned during the summer season. The cost of the damages is expected to surpass $4.4 billion.

Justin Bieber Makes History Breaking Elvis’ Top Chart Record After 59 years

Justin Bieber Makes History Breaking Elvis’ Top Chart Record After 59 years

Justin Bieber made history at age 25, becoming the youngest artist to have seven albums reach the top of the Billboard 200, with the release of his seventh album Changes.

Changes released on February 14, 2020, and quickly climbed the ranks of the Billboard Top 200, eventually topping the charts becoming the number one album in the US. Not only becoming Bieber’s seventh album to accomplish this, with Changes’ success, Justin Bieber also beat the record for the youngest artist to have seven albums reach the top of the charts. A record held for 59 years by Elvis Presley. Elvis Presley released his seventh album Blue Hawaii back in 1961 at age 26.

Justin Bieber has been busy with cataloging his journey in the Youtube TV documentary series Seasons. A ten-episode documentary that gives the viewer an inside look at Justin Bieber’s life and music-making progress through the eyes of Bieber himself. The documentary series helped Bieber gain momentum ahead of the release of Changes, his first album in five years. The documentary also tackles Justin Bieber’s history of reckless behavior and substance abuse. Along with his marriage to Hailey Rhode Bieber.

Seasons and Changes serve as a redemption story for the 25-year-old artist. With a career of ups and downs it is inspiring to see Justin defeat his demons. Despite the newfound success Justin still manages to keep himself busy recently appearing in one of Kayne West’s Sunday Service Choir.

The Best of New Jersey’s Underground Hip-Hop Scene Gather for The Link Up Presented by Sloppy Vinyl Studios

The Best of New Jersey’s Underground Hip-Hop Scene Gather for The Link Up Presented by Sloppy Vinyl Studios

Last weekend I had the pleasure to attend The Link Up presented by Sloopy Vinyl, where I had the change to experience some of the best performers in the New Jersey Hip-hop scene. Gathering in the upper level of the Hollywood Blue Ribbon Restaurant, in Hillside, NJ, Sloppy Vinyl offers a platform for both upcoming, and veteran artist to perform not only in front of an amazing audience but also for a chance to earn three uninterrupted hours of recording time at the Sloppy Vinyl recording studio, and a placement on Sloppy Vinyl playlist. Each artist must perform 2-3 songs or a 10-minute mix for their set.

Sloppy Vinyl offers not only an amazing opportunity to make your music stand out but also a chance to record in a professional environment, under the Sloppy Vinyl brand.

Before the show started I had a chance to sit down with 100KPak and Pearl before their big performance:

“I am relaxed right now, I like the stage, I like the vibe, I am excited to show them what I got,” said Pak.

So you’re new to the scene, how long have you been at it?

“I’ve been doing this since 2014. Legitimately,” said 100KPak. “My sound, I grew around the time of Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa, [and] Mic Miller…. So I found a lot of lyrics in my stuff. But I also caught that little trap wave early. So I was bouncing around finding my style.”

When it comes to finding her style and voice, Pearl has a more unique way of finding her rhythm:

“I was feeling really good I was nervous with soundcheck,” said Pearl about her time getting ready, but when it comes to her music she knows where it all comes from, “I swear it comes from when I get dressed at home. My outfit, my dress, [if] I look good it pumps me up!!” said Pearl.

Pearl alongside Polo Gotti performed a duet that combined both their unique styles, along with their fun energy. When asked how long they started to perform together, Polo had this to say:

“That was like the first song me and her [Pearl] did together, and then we did a second. I like the vibe so we kept going, me and her [Pearl] have three songs dropping.”

The crowd quickly gathered to watch these performers take the stage, and the atmosphere was out of this world, everyone felt welcome, the crowd cheered welcoming the singers to the stage. One of the performers lighting up the stage was The RealTsunami, here flow and strong stage presence came from knowing that she is always being looked after by her family and loved ones:

“One of my first inspirations is the music, and how it flows out of me, so natural, is like it feels like I was born [with] it… my inspiration is my cousin Shantee, who recently passed,” The RealTsunami continued, “They [family and friend] give me the inspiration to make it litty on the stage, to make it live!”

It wasn’t just the voices of New Jersey that were attracted by the opportunity provided by Sloppy Vinyl. Polo Gotti hailed from Ohio, and I set down with him to see how his passion brought him all the way to Jersey.

“I am from Cleveland, Ohio, so when I came to Jersey I got the vibes, I was like alright my sound is completely different from everyone else.” Polo Gotti continued talking about what made his voice different coming from Ohio. “I am very country so when I came here everybody called me country so I guess how I rap is completely different from everyone else… and [I] can get in a whole different beat, I can change up a lot.”

Representing the Bronx was Sledge Dibiase, a veteran of the game. He took the stage not only as a special guest, but also to promote his first album, the combination of a long journey that he was happy to share with me:

“This is my first album, I dropped mixtapes in the past, I dropped singles, but this is the first full album… We started this thing called Brasco Music, I also have my company T-Reps Forever, we in the come up, everything is coming together, it is looking beautiful.”

That sounds like one heck of a journey.

“Man, I’ve been doing my thing for 10 years or more, I mean taking my thing seriously I would say ten years or more. So for any young artist out there you just have to stick to it, getting better keep improving yourself, keep mastering your craft.”

Sledge Dibiase first full album Fly and Wonderful is coming in March, with the lead single “Alright,” dropping February 18 on all platforms, Spotify, Tidal and anywhere music is available. Keep an eye out.

Shahivioney another twenty-plus year veteran took the stage to show love to the roots.

“It’s been a minute, but this is the spot, Sloppy Vinyl is like headquarters for me,” said Shahivioney.

You have a brand, a website, I see you perform, you have it made, how is it like chasing the dream?

“Chasing the dream you know, trying to make that dream a reality.”

If you want to learn more about Shahivioney, you can find him with his company 5tatentllc.com

There is no doubt The Link Up presented by Sloppy Vinyl is the hottest ticket around for up and coming artists looking to start and make a name for themselves. Not only as a way to get discovered but also as a way to meet other veterans of the game, all chasing the dream.

She’s Alive! Bride of Frankenstein Still in the Works Despite Dark Universe Shut Down

She’s Alive! Bride of Frankenstein Still in the Works Despite Dark Universe Shut Down

Variety has reported that despite the multiple setbacks, the next installment of the Dark Universe The Bride of Frankenstein is still on the works. Back in 2017, the Dark Universe was officially announced (if you don’t consider The Wolfman, Dracula Untold, and IFrankenstein) with the now-iconic image of all the leading actors standing next to each other. As soon as the announcement was made the Dark Universe was instantly killed after The Mummy 2017 didn’t just bomb, but it was considered the worst movie of the year. This failure was enough to put a holt on the entire Dark Universe.

Universal recently changed the way they’re tackling their movie properties, giving them a more director-driven cost-efficient style, akin to how DCU started to handle their movies after the release of Justice League. The first movie scheduled to release with this mentality is The Invisible Man, directed by Leigh Whannell. A modern take on the classic story Elisabeth Moss plays Cecilia Kass, a woman stuck in an abusive relationship. After escaping, she starts to feel that she is being hunted by her ex, despite being dead. The movie has a 9 million dollar budget and is expected to $20 million. So, where does that leave Bride of Frankenstein?

With future movies receiving small budgets, but more creative freedom, even with the right team, the studio might not be able to afford Angelina Jolie (who was cast to play the role before Universal pulled the breaks on the Dark Universe).  To be honest, it would be for the best to recast Jolie, nothing against her. Universal doesn’t seem to be seeking big-name performers to gather interest. Instead, Universal seems more interested in cost-efficient movies. On the bright side, that means more creative freedom. In the end, I rather see a low budget masterpiece than whatever The Mummy 2017 was.

Wes Anderson Returns to Live Action With The French Dispatch

Wes Anderson Returns to Live Action With The French Dispatch

Wes Anderson is one of the most unique voices in cinema. I could say that and call it a day. The 50-year-old director has created some of the most melancholy movies ever with The Royal Tenenbaums, and one of my personal favorites, The Grand Budapest Hotel. His movies have gathered such a large following that whenever a new movie is announced it is met with anticipation.

The last movie that Wes Anderson release was 2018’s Isle of Dogs, a stop motion film harkening back to his last animated effort 2009’s Fantastic Mr. Fox. Despite the success of both films, fans have been anticipated the next live-action Anderson film.

Yesterday Wes Anderson revealed the poster for his next film named, The French Dispatch.

Today the official trailer for the French Dispatch went live giving us a clear idea of what the movie is about.

The French Dispatch is about Arthur played by Bill Murray, a man that turned a travel log into a newspaper titled The French Dispatch. The movie revolves around the publishing of a memorial edition highlighting the three best stories from the last decade: an artist sentenced to life imprisonment, student riots, and a kidnapping resolved by a chef. The French Dispatch itself was inspired by the real-life The New Yorker, which Anderson has admitted to being an avid reader since he was very young.

Joining Bill Murray is an amazing cast with, Timothee Chalamet, Benicio del Toro, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand, Jeffrey Wright, and Owen Wilson. The French Dispatch is set to release on July 24, 2020.
