Get Out Actor Caleb Landry Jones Set to Release Debut Album

Get Out Actor Caleb Landry Jones Set to Release Debut Album

Caleb Landry Jones, other than having a very impressive filmography, from X-Men: First Class to Get Out, is also a very unique musician. The 30-year-old actor is set to release his debut album Mother Stone releasing on May 1. Sacred Bone Records announced on their Twitter:

As a companion to the album, Jones also released the official music video for his lead single, “Flag Day / The Mother Stone.” The psychedelic music video reminds me of older European expressionist films, with in-your-face visuals combined with trippy visuals. Jones wrote The Mother Stone in the wake of a breakup. “I started writing record after record after record after record, because I didn’t know what to do with myself,” he said in a press release. “It was a good way of healing. And it felt like as soon as I started doing it, it felt like it needed to happen all the time.”

The tone of the music video came after Jones met filmmaker Jim Jarmusch. “I was a big fan of his work,” Jones says. “Instead of wanting to talk, I thought I’d write him a piece that would somehow let him know who I was.”

The other tracks feature in the album include:

  1. Flag Day / The Mother Stone
  2. You’re So Wonderful
  3. I Dig Your Dog
  4. Katya
  5. All I am in You / The Big Worm
  6. No Where’s Where Nothing’s Died
  7. Licking The Days
  8. For The Longest Time
  9. The Hodge-Podge Porridge Poke
  10. I want to Love You
  11. The Great I Am
  12. Lullabbey
  13. No Where’s Where Nothing’s Died (A Marvelous Pain)
  14. Thanks for Staying
  15. Little Planet Pig

Jussie Smollet Still Faces Criminal Chargers for Hoax Hate Crime Allegation

Jussie Smollet Still Faces Criminal Chargers for Hoax Hate Crime Allegation

The saga of Jussie Smollet continues with 6 new counts of disorderly conduct and lying to CPD. The former Empire actor was indicted Tuesday in Chicago by special prosecutor Dan Webb.

Jussie Smollet shook up the media last year in January 2019 when it was allegedly revealed that the actor was assaulted in an alleged anti-gay/ racist attack. The story caught national headlines, with the actor receiving waves of support in social media. However, as weeks past the story started to recive more criticism with conflicting re-tellings and other parts simply not adding up. All this came to a head when the Chicago police dropped the investigation, after concluding Smollet staged the entire attack.

The “attackers,” were identified as brothers Abel and Ola Osundairo, the pair trained Smollett and worked with him on Empire. Police concluded that this whole “attack” was meant to be a publicity stunt to re-energize his career. After prosecutors dropped the case in March 2019, Smollett maintained his innocence but agreed to let authorities keep a $10,000 bail. Smollett would later try to sue the city, claiming malicious prosecution.

In response for the new chargers, Smollett’s attorney, Tina Glandian, said in a statement on Tuesday: “This indictment raises serious questions about the integrity of the investigation that led to the renewed charges against Mr. Smollett, not the least of which is the use of the same CPD detectives who were part of the original investigation into the attack on Mr. Smollett to conduct the current investigation, despite Mr. Smollett’s pending civil claims against the City of Chicago and CPD officers for malicious prosecution.  And one of the two witnesses who testified before the grand jury is the very same detective Mr. Smollett is currently suing for his role in the initial prosecution of him.”

Ever since the original story, Fox has distanced themselves from the Smollett, completely writing his character out of the show.

Visual Experts Slam The Cat Skit on the Oscars

Visual Experts Slam The Cat Skit on the Oscars

Cats has gathered a cult status as of late, the movie is not good by any stretch of the imagination. The movie, based on the long-running play, has gained criticism for being, well, a hard movie to watch. From the odd choices in editing to the nightmare faces CGI into a cat body. Cats was even nominated for 9 Razzie Awards, the fun parody awards honoring the worst of the year. With such a bad reputation and pretty much becoming the laughing stock of the media, Cats never expected to pop up in the Oscars.

However, during the 2020 Academy Awards, Rebel Wilson and James Corden arrive wearing full cats outfits harkening back to the hilarious/ awkward moment during the 2010 Oscars, where Ben Stiller announced the winner for best makeup dress as a Navi from the film Avatar. In a fun jab as the visual disaster that was Cats Rebel Wilson and James Corden announce the winner for Best Visual Effects. The joke was not meant to offend anyone. However, one group did take offense, The Visual Effect Society. In a statement made about the award show this is what they said:

“Last night, in presenting the Academy Award for Outstanding Visual Effects, the producers chose to make visual effects the punchline, and suggested that bad VFX were to blame for the poor performance of the movie Cats,” the Visual Effects Society statement reads. “The best visual effects in the world will not compensate for a story told badly.”

It continues, “On a night that is all about honoring the work of talented artists, it is immensely disappointing that the Academy made visual effects the butt of a joke.  It demeaned the global community of expert VFX practitioners doing outstanding, challenging, and visually stunning work to achieve the filmmakers’ vision.”

It is no secret that the making of Cats was a nightmare for everyone involved, even the director Tom Hooper admitted that the movie was finished a day before it premiered. Cats was reported to be so unfinished that the movie started to recive ‘a patch,’ for later release hoping to fix many of its issues.

MPC (Motion Picture Co.), the studio that worked on film shut down its Vancouver studio, laying off more than 300 VFX workers. Before the shutdown, the studio had also contributed to Ad Astra, Life of Pi, Disney’s CGI remake of The Lion King, and the redesign of Sonic the Hedgehog for the upcoming movie. Yves McCrae a visual artist who worked on the also tweeted out his displeasure.

It is important to point out that the winner of Best Visual Effect was 1917 directed by Sam Mendes with visual effects credited to Guillaume Rocheron, Greg Butler, and Dominic Tuohy.
