Bill Cosby is facing sentencing today after three counts of sexual assault conviction back in April, 2014.
The 81 year old emerged from a black SUV wearing a flower-print tie and dark suit and ambled to the Montgomery County courthouse using his cane and with the help of his publicist Andrew Wyatt.
The hearing at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Norristown is expected to begin with testimony about whether he should be classified as a sexually predator. Cosby was convicted of three counts of sexual assault after drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand in 2004.
Constand, the former head of women’s basketball operations at Temple University, is just one of the 60 women who have accused Cosby of sexual harassment.
Constand tweeted a Bible verse hours before the hearing was set to begin: “Be wrathful, but do not sin; do not let the sun set while you are still angry; do not give the Devil an opportunity.” She wrote on Twitter.
His trial is being heralded as the first major celebrity trial of the #MeToo era. As a result, there’s massive public attention being paid to the outcome with those coming out against Cosby not sure if the court will give him a pass in terms of punishment given his fame.
“I really think it’s important that he spend some time behind bars,” said Lise-Lotte Lublin, who said Cosby assaulted her when she was 23 in 1989. The then-model said Cosby prodded her to take two drinks to relax. “At some point, he should acknowledge what he’s done, and do the time for the crime.”
Its crazy to think someone so beloved by so many is now being looked at as disgusting. It’s just unimaginable to think that Cosby, the one who was on your television screens growing up is being depicted in such a different light. Just goes to show you a person like Bill, even though you think he’s innocent and it never crossed your mind that he would do such a thing, you just never know.
“You’re tearing me apart Lisa!” yells Tommy Wiseau in “The Room” the cult 2003 film Wiseau starred in, wrote, directed and produced.
Known as the best worst movie of the 21st century, “The Room” has gained quite the fanbase in the 15 years since its release. Hundreds attend midnight screenings where they say lines with the characters, throw spoons at the screen and toss footballs across the theater. Its cult-like following has led some to label “The Room” as this generation’s “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” which also holds midnight screenings known for audience participation.
“The Room” has been hard to find online, that is until Wiseau decided to post the film in its entirety on his Youtube page, giving everyone the ability to watch the trainwreck from the comfort of their homes.
Not to be confused with the 2015 Brie Larson captivity drama “Room” “The Room” follows Wiseau as Johnny, a banker in San Fransisco whose fiance grows tired of him. That plot description doesn’t do the film justice, but it’s one of those movies you have to see to believe.
Wiseau and his film were catapulted to the front lines of public consciousness last year when James Franco directed and starred in “The Disaster Artist” a film that chronicled the making of “The Room.” Many assumed Franco was a lock for an Oscar nomination for playing Wiseau, but a #MeToo controversy likely played a part in his snub.
“The Disaster Artist” is now available to stream with Amazon Prime, making this a double feature everyone can stream without leaving their homes!
The first look at Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker has arrived!
First images of the famous “Batman” villain always cause a stir in fans. When the first pictures of Heath Ledger’s Joker came out, many were initially worried that it would be too dark and gritty; obviously, they were wrong. A few years after that, when the first pictures of Jared Leto’s tattooed gangster version of the character were released, people thought it was too weird and unlike the Joker; they may have had reason to be concerned.
The first tease of Joaquin Phoenix’s take on the iconic character is … unexpected, to say the least. He isn’t wearing any make up, or really any of the Joker’s signature clothes. If I hadn’t known these were pictures for “Joker” I would’ve guessed it was a sequel to “No Country to Old Men” will Phoenix playing Anton Chigurh.
I have complete faith in Phoenix as an actor. His recent work in “Her” “The Master” “You Were Never Really Here” and “Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot” have cemented him as one of the all time greats, so I’m sure whatever he does with the Joker will be fun to watch.
However, the director behind “Joker” does make me slightly worried for the fate of this movie. Todd Phillips, director of “The Hangover” trilogy and “Old School” is helming this origins story. While those movies aren’t necessarily bad (except for the third “Hangover”), it’s not the kind of resume I’d assume would link up well with “Joker.” I’m going to try and stay positive and hope that the studio knows something about Phillips that I don’t.
On Friday, Phillips took to Instagram to unveil Phoenix’s camera test in makeup as the villain. He does look genuinely unhinged, which will hopefully translate into a terrifying and menacing performance.
The upcoming film “Beautiful Boy” follows Steve Carell and Timothee Chalamet as father and son trying to navigate the son’s drug addiction and path to sobriety.
The movie is based on the memoirs “Beautiful Boy” which tells the story through the father’s perspective, and “Tweak” which follows the son as he dives deeper into his addiction and the rough road to sobriety.
Carell stars as David Sheff, whose oldest son Nic, played by “Call Me by Your Name” breakout Timothee Chalamet, falls deep into addiction. The movie will definitely be a tear jerker, as well as an “Office” reunion and Carell will be married to Amy Ryan, who played Dunder Mifflin’s H.R. rep, Holly Flax.
After its premiere at T.I.F.F., “Beautiful Boy” got a tepid reception; it wasn’t panned, but few people were singing its praises as amazing. While I’m sure the performances are top notch, I’m curious if the screenplay, which morphs the two memoirs, will work cohesively.
Either way, I’m definitely going to see it.
“Beautiful Boy” will open in limited release on October 12 before expanding wide throughout the fall.
“A long time ago we used to be friends but I haven’t thought of you lately at all” begins the theme song for “Veronica Mars” the CW teen detective show that ran from 2004-2007 and had a theatrical reboot in 2014.
In a post on her Instagram, Kristen Bell announced not only that all episodes of “Veronica Mars” would be available on Hulu, but that she and series creator Rob Thomas would be creating new episodes for the streaming service.
The original three seasons of the show followed Veronica working with her private eye father to solve the murder of her best friend as she helped her wealthy classmates with her detective skills. The show was cancelled after its third season, which followed Veronica to college.
In 2014, fans donated to a Kickstarter page which funded the big screen “Veronica Mars” movie, which followed her as she went to her high school reunion to help prove her ex-boyfriend’s innocence in a murder investigation.
Bell captioned her announcement video “Attention all Marshmallows: BREAKING NEWS!!!!!We are OFFICIALLY back in business!!! A new #veronicamars series is coming back, on @hulu !!!! Veronica has always been a super hero without a Cape. And I think shes exactly what the world needs right now. Thank you to all my fellow marshmallows who stayed excited.
