[MUSIC] ARTIST OF THE WEEK: B.ABLE

[MUSIC] ARTIST OF THE WEEK: B.ABLE

B.Able: My name is BeAble. I am 24 years old. I’m a tenor saxophone player, rapper and singer from Morristown, NewJersey.

Indo: From previous knowledge you changed your name. What made you change your name?

B.Able: What made me change my name is that I actually got a new job outside of my music industry and that’s a big full time accounting job. I want to make sure that when I change my name it has to be something that relates to me and it can’t be connection with my real name.

Indo: How did you get started in creating music?

B.Able: Ever since I was 9 years old I actually learned how to play clarinet, stepped up to bass clarinet, and tenor saxophone. When I was 15 I began writing songs and I started rapping. I didn’t take it seriously until I was about 23. And with that being said, I think what really changed my perspective was the best of Essex competition in which I saw all these rappers performing. They actually did a little cypher which I actually rapped for the first time in over quite some time and the feedback I’ve got will inspire me to keep going. So I continue rapping and I have three songs already on soundcloud and it’s been quite an adventure so far.

Indo: How has that year been for you?

B.Able: A blessing! Truly been a blessing. Because, I never thought I would be close or know so many people in this New Jersey Arts underground community. I am overly grateful for how many friends I have, friends I’ve made, people I have created and networked with. It’s beyond incredible how much I’ve done in this short period of time because a year you may think it’s long but it’s really short. I have been connecting with a whole bunch of people. Like I said I went to the Sloppy Vinyl networking event this past August so I got to network with people from there. The amount of performances I’ve been given, the opportunities that I’ve been given was incredible.

Indo: So I wanted to ask you who are some of your musical influences?

B.Able: My most musical influences are the Notorious B.I.G.

Indo: Biggie!

B.Able: Yeah Biggie. I love Biggie, and Bow Wow. Those are my favorites.

B.Able: Now bow wow is my favorite rapper growing up when I was a kid. Biggie I been recently getting into, just love his style of music, but Frank Sinatra is a big influence.

Indo: Frank Sinatra was a big influence on Biggie too.

B.Able: Exactly!

B.Able : John Coltrane…. John Coltrane was another. There’s another one that’s nice Usher, and R. Kelly.

Indo: So you got a wide variety like a really eclectic tastes.

B.Able: Yes I’m very widespread when it comes to music. I love all kinds classical music, rock, hip-hop, pop music, jazz music. I was trying to incorporate as many styles as possible.

Indo: Does that influence your own music and stuff?

B.Able: Oh definitely. My second song was actually based on my love for Latin music because I’ve taken Spanish in high school and in college. So I have learned a lot of Spanish sayings. I’m not fluent in Spanish but I definitely can hold down like a 5-10 minute conversation.

Indo: So what influence you to step it up and do music like for real? What inspires you to be an Artist instead of just doing it as a hobby?

B.Able: The reason why I found my passion through music is because I wanted to show people with autism, people that have disabilities can do possibly anything that they want to do. And that’s the reason why my stage name is that. Although, I am disabled I am in fact able to do anything my mind puts me too.

Indo: Right, you’re definitely able you know. So what else do you have going on now? So I know you have a new single out. What’s the name of that new single?

B.Able: Avatar! Avatar is based on you know The Last Airbender and Avatar The Legend of Korra. This song is based on that. It was one of those trap songs that just gets stuck in your head. And it was influence by actually another Artist, my friend Glenn.

Indo: Is it on iTunes or Spotify?

B.Able: It’s on Soundcloud. Not on Itunes yet, but it will definitely be streamed on soundcloud.

Indo: So what’s next for BeAble.

B.Able: What’s next for for me on horizon is performing more showcases and doing some more songs.  In December, I plan on auditioning for Moorestown onstage competition which is their annual Mr. annual talent show competition. So I plan on doing that in December the Sumber America’s Got Talent is also my next step. Next up on the horizon.

Indo: Is there anything you would like to leave your fans with?

B.Able: There will be new music out, definitely coming soon and also I want to say thank you to all my fans, thank you for supporting me and my career, thank you for following my message, and thank you for believing in me and I promise you that I will keep working and performing and I will continue to be humble.

[SPORTS] NFL WEEK 12 RECAP: RIVERS HAS HISTORIC DAY

[SPORTS] NFL WEEK 12 RECAP: RIVERS HAS HISTORIC DAY

Philip Rivers Dialed In, Seahawks Continue Climb, Cousins Solves Primetime Woes, And More!

So much for being ‘trash’.

Just in case you missed it, Jalen Ramsey talked a ton in his GQ interview this past summer. In a earth shattering and mostly ill-received interview, Ramsey gave scathing reviews for a number of the NFL’s starting quarterbacks, including his opponent on Sunday, Josh Allen.

Ramsey called the Buffalo Bills rookie quarterback ‘trash’ and that he couldn’t wait to play him this season.

Well, let’s just say that didn’t work out too well for him.

Surprisingly, that was a pretty good football game down in Western New York. I wasn’t able to catch all of the game until I got home from the New England Patriots annual trip to East Ruthford.

My girlfriend beside me laughed at the fact Buffalo was beating Jacksonville, but all it made me do was cringe in knowing that the Patriots had made them look like a Super Bowl Contender back in Week 2.

If anything, that’s a reminder that what we see in the first month of the season is unlikely to be the case at this point in the season.

The Cincinnati Bengals and Miami Dolphins were 3-1, Ryan Fitzpatrick was an MVP candidate and we all thought the Buffalo Bills would finish 0-16 after their first two games.

Yeah, things changed a lot.

Here are my biggest takeaways from Week 12 of the NFL season.

Rivers Sets NFL Mark In Chargers Rout Of Cardinals

The question going into the Los Angeles Chargers home game vs the Arizona Cardinals wasn’t if Philip Rivers was pissed off following last week’s loss, but just what he would do in response.

In a memorable performance, Rivers continued his strong 2018 with one for the history books.

Philip Rivers set an NFL record for completions to begin a game with 25 straight completions on Sunday in the Los Angeles Chargers’ 45-10 blowout of the Arizona Cardinals.

Rivers, who was coming off a two interception performance vs the Denver Broncos in a tough 23-22 loss at home, was electric in this one.

There were difficult throws made down the field to well covered targets, an amazing one-handed grab, toe-tap touchdowns in the corner of the end zone and Rivers simply taking what the defense gave him.

His first incompletion of the game did not surface until the 6:04 mark of the third quarter when a pass intended for Austin Ekeler fell incomplete.

Rivers would ultimately throw another touchdown to cap off the drive before exiting. He finished the game going 28-for-29 with 259 passing yards and three touchdowns.

The Los Angeles Chargers (8-3) lost Melvin Gordon to an MCL injury, the one down from the game.

The Chargers have a huge matchup next Sunday night in Pittsburgh when they face the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Defense Helps Broncos End Steelers Streak

The Denver Broncos have been close in a number of their losses this season. Something that could’ve derailed their morale as a team has only further provided the team with confidence they can turn those losses to victories.

They did that on Sunday, and in the process helped their cause in a possible push for the playoffs.

The Denver Broncos defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 24-17 on Sunday afternoon at Sports Authority Field to end the Pittsburgh Steelers’ six-game winning streak.

Shelby Harris intercepted Ben Roethlisberger on a pass in the end zone from the two-yard line late to seal Denver’s second huge win in as many weeks.

The Denver Broncos defense forced the Pittsburgh Steelers into four turnovers, including two game-changing turnovers in the second half that saw Denver’s offense capitalize and score touchdowns off each.

Leading Denver’s offense was rookie running back Phillip Lindsay, who rushed for 110 yards on just 14 carries with a touchdown run that gave Denver a 24-17 lead in the fourth quarter.

Case Keenum would throw for 197 passing yards and two touchdowns, going another game without throwing an interception.

With their wins over the Los Angeles Chargers and Pittsburgh Steelers in consecutive weeks, Denver has vaulted themselves into the playoff race.

Their remaining schedule is a relatively easy one, as they have three road games with the Cincinnati Bengals, San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders while having to face the Cleveland Browns and Los Angeles Chargers at home.

For Pittsburgh, it’s a tough trip back to the Steel City.

The Pittsburgh Steelers amassed 527 total yards, a season-high total allowed by the Denver Broncos, but Roethlisberger’s two interceptions and lost fumbles from James Connor and Xavier Grimble came back to haunt Pittsburgh.

The Steelers hadn’t allowed a 100-yard rusher all season, but they did that on Sunday in Denver as their run defense has looked suspect over the past two weeks.

They have allowed 303 rushing yards in just the past two weeks, both on the road where the team has struggled to replicate its on-field success.

They’ll look to get back to their winning ways at home when they host the Los Angeles Chargers next Sunday night at Heinz Field.

Wilson Helps Keep Seahawks Afloat In NFC Playoff Race

It wasn’t long ago that it appeared the future of the NFC was to be a number of encounters between the Seattle Seahawks and Carolina Panthers in the postseason, but two teams who have seen changes from personnel to coaching over the years are fighting to remain in the playoff picture.

In a thrilling contest, the Seattle Seahawks outlasted the Carolina Panthers 30-27 on Sunday at Bank of America Stadium to keep their playoff hopes alive and well.

Russell Wilson threw for 339 passing yards and two touchdowns, including a huge 43-yard completion to Tyler Lockett late to set up a game-winning 31-yard field goal by Sebastian Janikowski as Seattle won their second consecutive game.

A game that saw its shifts in momentum, it was Seattle — who crept closer to the sixth and final playoff spot — that pulled out a few more plays.

Carolina did well to limit Seattle’s rushing attack, but Russell Wilson was up to the challenge against Luke Kuechley and the Panthers.

In a critical play that went a long way towards determining the game, Russell Wilson found his wide receiver David Moore for a 35-yard touchdown on 4th and 3 to tie the game at 27-27 with 3:26 remaining.

On the ensuing possession, the Carolina Panthers would get into field goal range for struggling locker Graham Gano, who went on to miss a 52-yard attempt with 1:45 remaining.

The Seattle Seahawks (6-5) survived a career day from Panthers’ running back Christian McCaffrey, who finished with 237 total yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns.

After slipping past Carolina on Sunday, their schedule shapes up to be favorable as they finish the season with four out of their last five games of the season at home.

Three of those games will be against the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals, two of the NFL’s worst teams.

Cousins Outshines Rodgers In Vikings Win

Kirk Cousins has heard the noise from outside, but he won’t acknowledge those who question the Minnesota Vikings for investing as much money as they did into him.

With Minnesota desperately in need of a reversal after losses in two out of their past three games, that’s exactly what Cousins delivered.

The Minnesota Vikings took down the Green Bay Packers 24-17 on Sunday night at U.S. Bank Stadium to stay in the playoff hunt.

Kirk Cousins carved up the Green Bay Packers secondary for 342 passing yards and three touchdowns in Minnesota’s victory over their NFC North rivals.

He outplayed his counterpart Aaron Rodgers, who was sacked four times in the loss. Rodgers finished the game throwing for only 198 passing yards and one touchdown.

After battling to a 29-29 tie back in Week 2, the two teams played to a 14-14 tie at the half. In the second half, it was Minnesota, leading 17-14, establishing a cushion late in the third quarter after Kirk Cousins’ 14-yard touchdown score to Adam Thielen gave the Vikings a 24-14 lead.

The Vikings defense would stand up to Rodgers, holding Green Bay to a field goal in the second half as they improved to 4-2 at home this season.

Currently in the No. 5 spot in the NFC playoff picture, Minnesota has their work cut out for them with two consecutive road games vs the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks over the next two weeks.

Winning one of those games could be a determining factor in Mike Zimmer’s Minnesota Vikings advancing to the playoffs as the Chicago Bears are in control of the NFC North with just five games remaining.

[ENTERTAINMENT] IS 2018 THE YEAR OF INCLUSIVE CINEMA?

[ENTERTAINMENT] IS 2018 THE YEAR OF INCLUSIVE CINEMA?

As we look back at 2018, I think we’ll see it as a year of inclusion. Sure, the vast majority of films released within the past year starred straight white characters, but for once, it seems as though real representation has come to Hollywood. With mainstream movies focusing on African Americans, homosexuals, Asians and Hispanics coming out and being well received, the tides are finally changing.

“BLACK PANTHER”

Chadwick Boseman stars as the title character in “Black Panther.”

Marvel’s megahit this past February was, without a doubt, a game changer. Director Ryan Coogler took the relatively straightforward story of “Black Panther” and made it an international sensation. Its all-star cast, including but certainly not limited to Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong’o, Michael B. Jordan and Angela Bassett, the script by Coogler and co-writer Joe Robert Cole and top-notch action scenes all came together to yield a real game-changer of a movie.

Grossing over $1 billion and getting significant Oscar buzz, it seems likely that, even if it doesn’t win Best Picture, “Black Panther” will likely be considered the movie of 2018.

“LOVE, SIMON”

Directed by “Riverdale” Executive Producer Greg Berlanti, “Love, Simon” stars Nick Robinson as closeted teenager Simon.

Coming of age movies are nothing new; John Hughes made a whole career of making them. However, they have almost exclusively been centered around straight protagonists. “The Breakfast Club” “Sixteen Candles” and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” gave teens in the 80’s something to relate to, and those films are still revered to this day (even though star Molly Ringwald pointed out how they’ve become problematic). In 2018, “Love, Simon” based on the teen novel “Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda” has finally given gay teenagers a film to call their own.

Is “Love, Simon” groundbreaking? I would certainly say yes. Its protagonist, Simon, is a closeted gay teenager, but the film treats him like any other John Hughes lead. I think that’s incredibly important. While “Love, Simon” is in large part about homosexuality, it makes the whole journey of self-acceptance and coming out not only relatable but understandable to heterosexual viewers. I imagine that closeted teenagers watching “Love, Simon” will feel a sense of normalcy and sameness that teens in older generations weren’t privy to. It’s a film that wouldn’t have been made even 10 years ago, and in my eyes, that’s what progress looks like.

“CRAZY RICH ASIANS”

“Crazy Rich Asians” was the surprise hit of the summer.

The last time an all-Asian cast led a film was 1993’s “The Joy Luck Club” which means that for the entirety of my first 22 years, I never saw a movie with an all-Asian cast. That, of course, changed this past August when “Crazy Rich Asians” based on the Kevin Kwan novel of the same name, was released. Starring Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Michelle Yeoh and Akwafina, the romantic comedy grossed over $200 million at the worldwide box office.

For decades, Asian characters have been tossed to the sidelines, at best playing the quirky best friend. “Crazy Rich Asians” proves that people will go and support a film starring an Asian cast. There have been rumors about the remaining two novels in Kwan’s trilogy being adapted, and with the monetary results and positive word of mouth “Crazy Rich Asians” received, they would be silly not to capitalize on its success.

“ROMA”

“Roma” is director Alfonso Cuarón’s follow up to “Gravity.”

Three of the past five recipients of the Best Director Oscar have been Hispanic. Guillermo del Toro, Alejandro Iñárritu and Alfonso Cuarón were all born and raised in Mexico. That on its own should once again prove the changing tides in the entertainment industry. Now that these directors have industry respect and recognition, they’re able to create their passion projects, and for Cuarón, that project is “Roma.”

Already an awards frontrunner, “Roma” is a black and white, Spanish language film that tells a family’s story in Mexico City during the early 1970s. The movie’s exclusive release to Netflix on December 14 shouldn’t inspire fear or worry in viewers. Would you spend money to buy a theatrical ticket to a small, black and white, foreign film? I would, but that’s probably in small part why my friends make fun of my “less than mainstream” film choices. In actuality, “Roma” is poised to do much better on streaming, where it will be immediately available for everyone with a Netflix account.

Judging by the critics who have seen “Roma” it’s apparently deeply moving and personal to Cuarón. That’s the luxury of winning an Oscar; you’re essentially on the top of the world and get to pick the projects that interest you. After his statue and acclaim for helming “Gravity,” Cuarón decided to make a film that recounts his experiences growing up in Mexico City. The other thing that makes “Roma” especially interesting is that it is likely to be the first Netflix release to snap a Best Picture nomination. Sure, other streaming services like Amazon Prime’s “Manchester by the Sea” did this first a few years ago, but Netflix seems to be on a whole different level of popularity and international reach.

Those four movies aren’t the only examples of how 2018 can be considered especially inclusive, but I think they underline that point quite well. Were there any other movies that came out in 2018 that you felt shined a light on an often tossed-to-the-sidelines group? Let me know in the comments below!

[GOSSIP] KEVIN HART, ENIKO PARRISH ATTACKED OVER ‘COWBOYS AND INDIANS’ BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR SON

[GOSSIP] KEVIN HART, ENIKO PARRISH ATTACKED OVER ‘COWBOYS AND INDIANS’ BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR SON

Kevin Hart and his wife, Eniko Parrish, came under fire this weekend for throwing their son a “cowboys and Indians” themed birthday party.

Parrish and Hart’s son, Kenzo Kash, celebrated his first birthday at the party. Fans dropped into the comments to scold both parents for cultural appropriation, and worse.

Imagine being so woefully out of touch, that one marginalized group appropriates another,” one person wrote. “So ignorant it hurts,” wrote another. “Learn your history!”

Parrish posted a photo and video of the festivities on Instagram. It showed a crowd of people in patterned blankets, cowboy hats and bandanas. While the concept is an old and popular one amongst American kids, many fans thought it was a tone-deaf move in 2018.

“Zo’s cowboys [and] Indians party was nothing but amazing!” she wrote in the caption. “Thanks to everyone for coming. We love you guys!”

Though, many did not like the theme party idea. There were others who came to the defense of Hart and his wife. People wrote long paragraphs about “over-sensitivity” and “snowflakes,”.

What the hell is happening, I’m glad I lived a childhood where children could dress up in what they wanted,” someone wrote. “Now people get offended by everything, ruin everything for everyone… Nice”, said one user.

Hart haswith the Native American community before. Several years ago, he came out in defense of the Washington Redskins, at a time when many people were calling for the team to change its name. He argued that the team name had transcended its racial implications and could no longer be taken as an insult.

What are thoughts on this controversy. Do you feel people are too sensitive now a days?

[MUSIC] LISTEN TO THE 1975 COVER ARIANA GRANDE’S “THANK U, NEXT”

[MUSIC] LISTEN TO THE 1975 COVER ARIANA GRANDE’S “THANK U, NEXT”

The 1975 were guests on BBC Radio I’s Live Lounge on Monday

Appearing in the week of the release of new album A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships, the band performed new songs “It’s Not Living (If It’s Not With You)” and “Sincerity Is Scary,” alongside a special cover, Ariana Grande‘s much-memed “thank u, next.”

Matty Healy praises Grande, saying she’s “become the main protagonist—is that the right word?—in most people’s lives. The person I see spoken about most. And somebody I’ve started to really care about for some reason. She’s had a right old tough time and I like her a lot. I think she’s cool. And she’s got a great voice. And I don’t. So I’m gonna sing one of her songs.”

I Iike the arrangement of the song and how they made it their own.  Vocals are smooth! What do you guys think of their version of thank you, next by Ariana Grande?

Watch a short clip of the cover below
