Many fight fans buying a ticket to see Conor McGregor create a spectacle with Khabib Nurmagomedov less than two days away from the UFC’s mega-event were left disappointed.
Conor McGregor would show up late to the UFC 229 pre-fight press conference, which was scheduled to begin at 6 pm/ET.
Appearing irked by his rival’s no show to the press conference at Park Theater in Las Vegas, Nurmagomedov would make his stay an early one at the event.
After around 15 or so minutes of answering questions, Khabib Nurmagomedov would rise from his seat and walk out of the press conference after answering a question from a media member.
He would leave the press conference to a chorus of boos as he held his title belt high over his head to the crowd.
McGregor, fashionably late, would enter the fray moments later to cheers from a mostly pro-McGregor crowd. When asked if he was in his opponent’s head, McGregor shifted his focus to wanting to inflict punishment on the UFC lightweight champion.
“Where’s he at? He sprinted out of here. It’s clear as day (that I am in his head),” McGregor said. “Again I don’t really care about his mentality or what he’s thinking. I do not give a ****. I am ruthless here … I am coming to put a hole in this man’s skull. Dent my knuckle into his orbital bone and that’s what I am going to do (on Saturday).”
The two fighters met face to face at a press conference closed to the public at the Radio City Music Hall two weeks ago to promote their fight … and Conor McGregor’s new whiskey.
McGregor verbally assaulted his bitter rival Nurmagomedov throughout, with the most memorable line being, “If you got off that bus you would be dead and I would be in a jail cell.”
The UFC announced the fight back in early August at a special UFC 25th Anniversary event during a video package which highlighted the turmoil and rivalry the two fighters had developed with one another.
Dana White has said in numerous interviews that he expects close to 3 million PPV buys for UFC 229.
The event will take place at the T-Mobile Arena starting at 10 pm/ET live on PPV.
Khabib Nurmagomedov is listed by the Las Vegas Superbook as a -155 favorite for Saturday night’s UFC lightweight title fight while Conor McGregor is a +125 underdog.

October not only brings scary horror movies to theaters around Halloween, but it’s also when awards movies begin populating the theaters. This is going to be a stacked month of new releases, so let’s take a deep dive into the movies coming out this month.
HORROR MOVIES
“HALLOWEEN”
Michael Myers is back with “Halloween.” Disregarding everything after the 1979 original, this “Halloween” movie will follow Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, now a grandmother who’s protecting her family against the masked Michael Myers’ return.
Halloween is coming to theaters on October 19.
“SUSPIRIA”
“Halloween” isn’t the only horror remake coming out this month. Focusing on a European school for ballerinas, this remake of the 1979 Italian horror film will star “50 Shades of Grey”‘s Dakota Johnson as the American dancer who comes to the academy. Tilda Swinton will be playing the creepy headmistress of the school and judging by the trailer, it’s going to be an especially creepy and eerie movie.
The directorial follow up for Luca Guadagnino after “Call Me by Your Name,” “Suspiria” is likely going to follow his signature style of long takes and evocative imagery. Pairing Guadagnino’s style with a scary movie seems like a recipe for a unique horror film.
“Suspiria” will be released on October 26.
OSCAR MOVIES
“A STAR IS BORN”
The fourth big screen telling of the story of a young musician’s rise to fame, Bradley Cooper is making his directorial debut with “A Star is Born.” Cooper stars as the famous country singer who takes a struggling newcomer with dreams of stardom, played by Lady Gaga, under his wing.
The movie is currently in theaters and is getting amazing buzz. Everyone is saying Cooper and Gaga give amazing performances and that the directing is top notch, despite it being Cooper’s first stab at working behind the camera. Expect to hear a lot about “A Star is Born” as the Golden Globes and the Oscars approach.
“FIRST MAN”
After “La La Land” became the smash hit of 2016, everyone was wondering what director Damien Chazelle’s next film would be. He chose to direct “First Man” which tells the story of Neil Armstrong and the first moon walk. “La La Land” costar Ryan Gosling is reteaming with Chazelle to play the famous astronaut, and “The Crown’s” Claire Foy is playing his wife.
While there have been a plethora of space related films released within the past few years (“Gravity”, “Interstellar”, “The Martian” and “Passengers” among others), people who’ve seen advanced screenings of “First Man” promise it’s the best depiction of space since “2001: A Space Odyssey” That might be hyperbole, but with Chazelle behind the camera, this could very well be special.
“First Man” is going to coming to IMAX screens, as well as all theaters, on October 12.
INDIE
“Mid90s”
Jonah Hill can do just about everything. He’s been a comedic funnyman for over a decade, and has proved his dramatic acting chops, being nominated for two Supporting Actor Oscars. Most recently, he starred alongside Emma Stone in the Netflix mini-series “Maniac.” Now, he’s hopping behind the camera to make his directorial debut with “Mid90s.”
Also written by Hill, “Mid90s” will focus on a young teenaged boy who spends his summer skateboarding with his friends and dealing with his family. The trailer makes it seem like a small, intimate movie, and I imagine Hill has injected a fair amount of his childhood and upbringing into the film.
“Mid90s” is coming out in limited release on October 19.
“CAN YOU EVER FORGIVE ME?”
Melissa McCarthy’s third film of 2018 seems different than almost every other movie she’s made. In “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” McCarthy stars as Lee Israel, the real life writer who, faced with declining book sales, decided to start forging famous author’s signatures.
The trailer seems almost completely devoid of comedy, and while the movie may have some funny moments, it seems more like a vehicle for McCarthy to flex her acting chops, rather than be the humorous side character.
“Can You Ever Forgive Me?” will also be released in limited release on October 19.
WILD CARD
“BAD TIMES AT THE EL ROYALE”
After working for years on television shows like “Alias” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” Drew Goddard made his directorial debut with “The Cabin in the Woods” a satirical look at the horror genre. After taking a 6 year break, Goddard is back with “Bad Times at the El Royale.”
Starring Chris Hemsworth, Jon Hamm, Jeff Bridges and Dakota Johnson in her second appearance on this list, “Bad Times at the El Royale” takes place during one fateful night at the El Royale, a Lake Tahoe hotel that’s on the border of California and Nevada, where all Hell breaks loose. Similarly to “The Cabin in the Woods” the plot for “Bad Times” is being kept pretty secretive. Some have speculated that it could potentially take place in the same universe as “The Cabin in the Woods”, a theory that Goddard has neither confirmed nor denied.
‘Bad Times at the El Royale” will hit theaters on October 11.

“Charlie’s Angels” is back with an all new cast, director and storyline. While the details are being kept pretty secretive as filming commences, let’s dive into what we do know about the upcoming remake.
THE ANGELS
The three angels, whose character names have yet to be revealed, were roles that everyone in Hollywood wanted. Lupita Nyong’o was in negotiations to play one of the three women, but that fell through. Kristen Stewart, “Power Rangers” star Naomi Scott (who has also been cast as Jasmine in the upcoming live-action “Aladdin” remake) and newcomer Ella Balinska have been cast and are currently filming as the Angels.

BOSLEY
Every team of Angels needs a Bosley, whether that be David Doyle in the original series, Bill Murray in the 2000 big screen adaptation or Bernie Mac in its sequel. This remake of “Charlie’s Angels” is putting a twist on the character, swapping the gender and having Elizabeth Banks play the role.
BEHIND THE SCENES
In addition to playing Bosley, Banks is also directing, co-producing and co-writing this reincarnation of the classic show. She’s credited on the script with 10 other writers (a potential red flag) but is the sole director. After directing 2015’s “Pitch Perfect 2” Banks turned down the chance to direct the third film in the Barden Bellas series to take a stab at “Charlie’s Angels.”

I’m skeptical about this upcoming movie, but cautiously looking forward to it anyway. The handful of writers could mean it has a weak or incohesive story, but I expect with Banks behind and in front of the camera, it will have a strong feminist angle — even more so than the original and the early 2000s films. While “Pitch Perfect 2” wasn’t a knockout, or anywhere near as good as the first film, it featured a lot of interesting montages, which have me confident in Banks’ directing abilities.
Obviously, I would’ve prefered if Nyong’o had been cast (I’m obsessed with her and want her in more high profile, non CGI roles), but I’m hopeful the three actresses who have been cast will do a good job with it.
We may be becoming oversaturdated with remakes and reboots, but I hope the upcoming “Charlie’s Angels” will not fall victim to audience’s franchise fatigue.
“Charlie’s Angels” is set to be released on September 27, 2019.
Marion “Suge” Knight was sentenced to 28 years in prison due to a hit-and-run altercation on the set of the movie “Straight out of Compton” back in 2015.
Suge Knight, the former co-founder of Death Row Records was, according to CNN, facing life for the death of Terry Carter and one count of attempted murder in the case of Cle “Bone” Sloan. A video of the attack showed Knight sitting in a vehicle that ran over Sloan, a body guard, twice, then running over Terry Carter, who later died.
Carter was a former rap music label owner, and his family members made it a point to represent him in court during Knights hearing. According to CNN the family members made emotional victim impact statements in the courtroom Thursday. The niece of Carter stated “He never got out of the car, to see if my uncle was okay. This has to be in my family forever. Nothing will be the same. Not even an apology, condolences have been made to my family.”
Last month knight pleaded no contest, which means the defendant neither disputes or admits to doing the crime. This is not Knights first run-in with the law which is why his sentence has been hiked up to 28 years.
Make sure you leave your comments down below about what you think of the hearing.
It’s time to take a closer look at the Bush presidency with Adam McKay’s upcoming film “Vice.”
Christian Bale is set to star as Dick Cheney, as the movie will follow him behind the scenes of the White House. Amy Adams is playing his wife, Lynne, and recent Oscar winner for “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” Sam Rockwell is taking on the role of George W. Bush.
This will be McKay’s first film since 2015’s award winning “The Big Short” which he also wrote and directed. That movie, which told the story of the housing bubble in a surprisingly digestible and easy-to-follow way, went on to win the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay. If that’s any indication, “Vice” will take a deep dive into Cheney and explain how he became the most powerful Vice President in a way that everyone, whether versed in politics or not, will be able to understand.

In 2008, Oliver Stone made “W.” which chronicled the life of the 43rd president. Josh Brolin played the title role, but because it was released when George W. was still in the daily spotlight, it didn’t capture much attention. Now that we’re over a decade out of the Bush presidency and in the current Trump administration, I imagine audiences might be more perceptive of a critical look at the 43rd president’s administration.
“Vice” will debut in theaters on December 21, just in time for it to be eligible for awards consideration.
Do you have any interest in seeing “Vice”? Do you think that in this current political climate, it’ll be well received or mostly ignored?
