One of James Gunn’s signature staples is the music he implements on his movies. His use of 80s and 90s rock and hip hop has become one of the best things to look forward to when he releases a movie. The songs go so well with every scene that you can’t imagine the scene being pulled off without the music.
With Jame Gunn working of both Suicide Squad 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3, fans can’t wait to see what music he’ll bring to the table. James Gunn recently took to Twitter to reveal that as perfect as the soundtracks for both Guardians 1 & 2, there were songs that were left on the cutting room floor.
Both. Livin’ Thing & Magic were both in scenes cut from Vol 1. She’s Gone was in the script for Vol. 2 but that scene was cut before we shot. Wichita Lineman & Mama Told Me Not to Come were almost used where Moonage Daydream is in the 1st film (cont’d) – https://t.co/1dpzDReKcthttps://t.co/snef4L5ehT
The soundtrack for both movies, also known as “Awesome Mix vol 1 & 2,” both playlists have some fantastic songs such as “Hooked on a Feeling,” by Blue Swede, and “Fox on the Run,” by Sweet. However, according to Gunn “Livin’ Thing,” was cut from the movies.
(M Daydream was the only song not in that script). Flashlight was almost the song Baby Groot danced to at the beginning of Vol 2. New York Groove was used in a scene cut from Infinity War.
While it is interesting to see what didn’t make the cut, none of these songs affected the overall movies, which have grossed a combined grossed a total estimate of 1.6 billion. What is interesting is that Gunn said that some of these songs might still appear in Guardians vol 3.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is set to release August 6, 2021. The day is still set despite the current Pandemic. What do you guys think, what song would you like to see in Guardians vol 3?
The spread of the Coronavirus has forced us all to self-quarantine in our homes. As numbers continue to increase, festivals, venues, and artists have been forced to cancel or postpone their events within the next couple of months, crushing the hearts of music lovers everywhere.
Luckily for us, now that all our favorite artists, musicians, and DJs are all stuck at home just like us, they have a lot more time to be creative and make new music for us all to enjoy. Since we’ve gone into quarantine we’ve gotten new albums and singles from several different artists. Some have even gotten creative and started sharing performances through different streaming platforms like Instagram live, Twitch or Youtube for fans to enjoy in the comfort of their own homes.
Artists across all genres such as Miley Cyrus, Kali Uchis, Steve Lacy, 4B, and Diplo have all been actively live-streaming for fans to help them during this difficult time. However, it’s the EDM community that has mainly used this as a way to keep their community close while in quarantine. Several DJs have begun live-streaming weekly hour long sets for their fans to enjoy. DJs like 4B, Wuki, Party Favor, Skrillex, Subtronics, GG Magree, Valentino Kahn,Wax Motif, and Sullivan King to name a few have all been actively live streaming sets for their fan to enjoy.
On April 9 Kayzo went live for two hours for his Unleashed Online, and Alison Wonderland will be going live every Monday for “Alison Wonderland Mondays.” Boombox Cartel just announced he will be streaming a set this Sunday April 19 at 8 pm PST. During this time, Diplo and Dillon Francis who have teamed up with DoorDash, will also be live-streaming bringing back their “Coronight Fever.” For every viewer who tunes in, DoorDash will donate one meal to a family in need. This whole weekend (April 17, 18, & 19) Lost Lands Festival is presenting “Couch Lands,” where they will be streaming their full sets from 2019.
Insomniac CEO and Founder Pasquale Rotella, hosted Beyond Wonderland’s Virtual Rave-A-Thon on March 20 and 21 in place of the actual festival that was forced to be postponed until June 19 and 20. The livestream brought in over 3 million viewers, prompting Rotella to host weekly virtual Rave-A-Thons to keep headliners entertained at home. This weekend April 17 and 18 Insomniac will be hosting Escape Halloween’s Virtual Rave-A-Thon, featuring performances from artists like AC Slater, Bonnie X Clyde, Cut Snake, Dillon Nathaniel, Duke Dumont, GRAVEDGR, Kendoll, Mikey Lion, Morten, No Mana, Sian, Slushii, TSURUDA, Two Friends, and Yulton.
Virtual Rave-A-Thons and livestreams will never compare to the feeling that comes with being at a live show and dancing with your best friends. But for now they offer us a brief moment of escape, as well as new music during this crazy time. For many of us music is our lifeline, and artists are trying to give us what we need in order to make staying home more bearable. It’s also a way for us all as a community to stay connected, and has reminded me why I love this community so much.
A reported 3.5 million viewers tuned into the Insomniac’s first livestream. Artists such as Joyride, Party Favor, 4B, Drezo, SayMyName, Kill The Noise, SVDDEN DEATH, and Wax Motif all gave sets spanning from 25 minutes to an hour. All the artists and host Rotella continued to encourage people to stay safe and to stay home. He even asked artists questions about how they’re spending their quarantine, asking Party Favor how many pairs of sweats he had been rotating at home. Here are some of my favorite sets below.
Insomniac presents Countdown Virtual Rave-A-Thon
Viewers tuned in to Insomniac Events Youtube channel from 8pm to midnight on March 27 and 28 for the Countdown Virtual Rave-A-Thon. Rotella was decked out from head to toe in an alien mind control deflection unit, and was accompanied by his alien friend “Trillion Toth.” Artists such as DJ Soda, Ekali, Flosstradamus, Peekaboo, Dombresky, i_o, JVNA, K?D, Los Kings, Mat Zo, Medasin, Ookay, Phantoms, Sacha Robotti, Sage Armstrong, SNBRN, and Tisoki. Not only did Rotella remind viewers to stay home and stay safe, but he also asked the artists Coutdown themed questions. We learned that Dombresky believes in aliens, and the Ookay would his laptop, Nintendo Switch, and his dog if he could travel to space with only three things. Here are some of my favorite sets below.
REZZ
Rezz gave her fans a live 45 minute set on April 1, finally joining artists in accepting livestreams as the new temporary normal. The audio and visuals weren’t the best, but her intent was clear: she wanted to give her fans live music and a moment of escape from all the madness going on in the world right now.
Insomniac presents Hard Summer Staycation Virtual Rave-A-Thon
On April 3 and 4 Devault, Ducky, Franklin Watts, Habstrakt, J Worra, Jauz, Kaivon, Mr. Carmack, Noizu, Omnom, Party Pupils, SVDDEN DEATH, Valentino Kahn, Walker & Royce, Wolfgang Gartner, and Wuki, all came to the Insomniac headquarters for Hard Summer Staycation. The lobby was covered in sand and palm trees, and Rotella was in his beachwear. Here are some of my favorite sets.
Brownies and Lemonade presents Digital Mirage Online Music Festival
Over 4 million people tuned in on April 3, 4, and 5 for Proximity and Brownies & Lemonade’s Digital Mirage, where 51 artists streamed sets from their homes. They originally set out to raise $100,000 for charity, but ended up raising over $300,000. Artists like Kaskade, Alison Wonderland, Kill the Noise, A-Track, Seven Lions, Ghastly, Nitti Gritti, 4B, and 12th Planet were all trending on twitter. Unfortunately the sets did not stay up after they were streamed, but I was able to find some below.
Insomniac presents Nocturnal Wonderland
For the fourth weekend in a row, artists came to the Insomniac headquarters to perform live sets for audiences at home. Nocturnal Wonderland included performances from 12th Planet, ARMNHMR, Arty, Bijou, Borgore, Born Dirty, Champagne Drip, Demigod, Jason Ross, Ship Wrek, Spencer Brown, TJR, VNSSA, Z-Trip, and an hour and a half long set from Zeds Dead.
Marvel is usually great at keeping things close to the chest, when a movie gets announce details such as casting and directing are usually kept secrete until Comic-Con or other events. However, when it comes to the upcoming Doctor Strange 2, things could not be any more open. After it was confirmed back in 2018, the movie went silent until Marvel released its new official timeline for the next phase of their cinematic universe. Doctor Strange 2 was officially renamed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The movie is set to come out next year, characters from the original movie are set to return, the only question was who is going to direct it?
Rumors quickly started to spread that the movie was going to be directed by Sam Raimi and that the movie was going to be more of a cosmic horror style of movie. Sam Raimi is no stranger to either superhero movies or horror genre. Sam Raimi first gain fame after creating the cult classic Evil Dead movies. In the early 2000s, he became a household name after writing and directing the original Spider-man trilogy.
In an interview, while talking about Spider-man 2, Sam Raimi dropped a hint, “When we had that moment in the Spider-Man movie, I had no idea we’d be making a Doctor Strange movie. So it was really funny to me also, coincidentally that line was in the first Spider-Man movie… I wish I had the foresight to know I was going to be involved in the project!” While not flat out stating that he is directing, Sam Raimi pretty much confirms that he is involved in the project. Marvel, nor Raimi has made an official statement, but all the rumors seem to confirm Raimi as the director.
What do you guys think, what kind of movie would Sam Raimi make if given the chance? More importantly, how would Bruce Campbell be put into the movie?
Ever since the rise of streaming, specifically, a publisher owned streaming service, one of the biggest questions that fans had is how would the streaming service handle the releases of certain shows. For apps, such as Netflix, their shows, for the most part, are shown uncensored. However, if a show or movie gains enough criticism, Netflix would start to remove the shows. This is done mainly because Netflix only has the rights to stream the product, not alter it. That is why Netflix chooses which release they air depending on the movie. Some movies are streamed with their original theatrical release, while others stream the DVD or Blue Ray release.
Amazon Prime streamed the entire Tom and Jerry cartoon with the earlier episodes getting an early warning letting the viewer know that what they are about to see was a product of the time.
Disney + takes this further as they edit out certain scenes from some of their movies. Fans discovered a hilarious edit to the Tom Hanks movie 1984’s Splash. A movie about Tom Hanks Character falling in love with a mermaid. The edit is when the mermaid is going to the water, you can tell that they altered the size of her hair.
Disney+ didn't want butts on their platform so they edited Splash with digital fur technology pic.twitter.com/df8XE0G9om
The edit is so apparent that it is hilarious. When the movie first came out, it was rated PG, which meant that, for the time, kids could watch this scene. Now it is important to state that Disney is a family brand, so it makes sense that they would edit out the scene. However, the real question becomes, is it fair to pay for something when you don’t get the original version of it?
With the rise of premium television, viewers expect to see the shows as they were intended. HBO GO, which shows both Game of Thrones and Sesame Street on the same app is the best example of pleasing everyone. Disney +, on the other hand, seems to promise almost everything from their library, but as long you play by their rules.

With the state of the world as it is, concerts like these are important because they show both unity and support for those out in the front line. The event is set to broadcast on all the major American television networks. Along with every major social media platform. The concert will air on Saturday, April 18 at 8 p.m. ET.
Sports have been in a bit of a standstill of late, with the NBA, NHL, and NFL halting their seasons. However, the interesting stories come from the many unique ways that each federation is finding ways to entertain their fans. NBA players started to compete against each other in NBA 2K20, with Nascar following the same technic. As for the WWE, instead of finding alternative, they taped their largest event Wrestlemania 36 a week in advance and split the showing over the weekend with the first four hours on Saturday and the rest on Sunday. The result is one of a unique wrestling experience that WWE has delivered in years.
Most Wrestling fans have a love/hate relationship with Wrestlemania. On the one hand, Wrestlemania is the biggest event of the year, with thousands of fans gathering to watch a true spectacle. On the other hand, the events are usually mixed with a pair of good matches and a pair of bad matches. The biggest hindrance to the show (speaking from experience) is that the show is extremely long clocking in at 7 to 8 hours. This year was meant to be no different with the event originally taking place in Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. However, do to the current Coronavirus pandemic there was doubt if the event was going to go through at all.
As a compromise, WWE taped their event a week in advance in their performance center. The show was shot in an empty arena with only essential personnel. The show was hosted by Rob Gronkowski, along with his partner Mojo Rawley. It was fun to see everyone perform with the idea that there is an audience, but as we will see some matches benefited while others did not.
For night one the event started with the first surprise of the night as Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross defeated The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) for the Women’s Tag Team Championship. Both teams had great chemistry and while is disappointing that The Kabuki Warriors lost their titles, it is a feel-good moment for Alexa Bliss and Niki Cross.
Elias defeated King Corbin in the first misfire of the night because this match is not a match that wouldn’t even main event on a regular episode of Raw.
Becky Lynch retained her title by defeating Shayna Baszler. It says a lot about Becky’s role when she main event the show last year to win the title, now she has the second shortest match of the night. This match didn’t help anyone and in fact it made Shayna look weak, confirming reports that Vince Mcmahon was not behind her.
Sami Zayn retained his tittle in a fun match against Daniel Bryan.
John Morrison retained the tag titles in a triple threat latter match against Jimmy Uso and Kofi Kingston. This was the first math that was able to pull off all of its tricks thanks to the power of editing. With the finish possible with a few camera cuts.
Kevin Owen defeated Seth Rollins putting on the best match of the night.
FTW Staff
What was originally booked as Roman Reign vs Goldberg. After backing out do to health concerns, Braun Strowman became a last minute replacer. The match was short (standard for Goldberg’s abilities) clocking in at two minutes and ten seconds. Braun defeated Goldberg, however the real question is what was the original plan, was Goldberg always meant to lose the title?
Finally, wrapping up night 1, AJ Styles vs. The Undertaker in a Boneyard match. The match was pre-recorded on a graveyard stage. This isn’t the first time WWE showed a match that was recorded in advance, but what this match benefited from was that fans did not need to watch it in the stadium. Usually, all the fans would stare at the titantron as the match would play. Knowing that everyone watching the match at home, give the match the ability to be as long and as over the top as possible. The match felt like you were watching a cheesy TV show, with all the twist and turn you would expect. Despite this, Undertaker vs. AJ Styles delivered one of the best matches in the whole show.
Night 2 started with Charlotte Flair delivering one of her best matches defeating Rhea Ripley for the NXT Women’s belt.
Aleister Black defeated Bobby Lashley.
Otis defeated Dolph Ziggler in a match that needed an audience, simply for Otis to get the hero pop he deserved.
Edge vs. Randy Orton was the longest match on the whole night as the two fought in a last man standing match for half an hour. The two spend most of the match hitting each other with weapons while walking around the Performance Center. The opening and finish of the match were the highlights, but what dragged the match was everything else. Without fans, there is no way of knowing whether or not this was a good or bad match.
The Street Profit defeated Angle Garza and Austin Theory with a surprise debut from Bianca Belair.
Bayley defeated four other superstars in a fatal 5-way elimination match to retain her championship.
The second match to be shot in another set was John Cena vs Bray Wyatt. The delivered a strange homage to the career of John Cena. Referencing his past as the Prototype, all the way to his battle with Bray Wyatt. There are so many reference and fun Easter eggs for wrestling fans that this is a can’t miss match.
Unlike night one the final match was for the WWE Championship, as Drew McIntyre defeated Brock Lesnar. While not the most entertainment match, it is always a treat to watch someone defeat Brock Lesnar.
Overall WWE managed to deliver a fun event in the mist of hard time. While events moving the way they are it is not clear if we will see another episode of Raw, or another PPV. It is great to see that despite the uncertainty this show at least left a smile in everyone’s face.
