[ENTERTAINMENT] ANSEL ELGORT CAST IN ‘WEST SIDE STORY’ REMAKE

[ENTERTAINMENT] ANSEL ELGORT CAST IN ‘WEST SIDE STORY’ REMAKE

Steven Spielberg’s remake of “West Side Story” has found its Tony with Ansel Elgort.

The “Baby Driver” actor has nabbed the lead in this high profile remake. Penned by “Angels in America” playwright Tony Kushner, “West Wide Story” tells the story of “Romeo and Juliet” through the lens of two rival New York City gangs. Elgort is playing the role made famous by Rickard Beymer.

Rumors of a “West Side Story” remake have been circulating for years. After completing his last film. 2017’s “The Post,” Spielberg was contemplating whether he wanted “West Side Story” to be his next project, or “The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara.” The latter centers is based off a novel by David I. Kertzer and focuses on a young Jewish boy in 19th century Italy. Also penned by Kushner, “The Kidnapping of Edgardo Martara” has taken a back seat as production of this high profile remake looms closer.

There is no official word as to who will play Maria, the other lead, but with shooting planned to begin in summer 2019, expect another casting announcement within the coming weeks.

[ENTERTAINMENT] TOM HARDY’S FAVORITE ‘VENOM’ MOMENTS CUT FROM FINAL FILM

[ENTERTAINMENT] TOM HARDY’S FAVORITE ‘VENOM’ MOMENTS CUT FROM FINAL FILM

Tom Hardy isn’t holding his breath about his displeasure with the final cut of “Venom.”

In an interview with Comics Explained,  the “Mad Max: Fury Road” star was asked about his favorite scene from the upcoming anti-hero film.

“There are scenes that aren’t in this movie,” said Hardy. “There are like 30 to 40 minutes worth of sccenes that aren’t in the movie.”

Fans have been skeptical about the “Venom” movie since it was revealed that the film would be rated PG-13. Many were hoping it would be a dark, violent, gritty look at the anto-hero, not unlike the R-rated “Logan” and “Deadpool.”

Hardy also said that the upcoming theatrical release is the only cut of “Venom.” This means there won’t be an Unrated or Extended addition that pushes past the of a PG-13 rating. With its star now implying the best moments from the movie have been permenantly omited, fan’s skepticism is quickly riding ahead of “Venom’s” October 5 release date.

[ENTERTAINMENT] FIRST LOOK AT ELTON JOHN BIOPIC ‘ROCKETMAN’

The first teaser trailer for the Elton John biopic “Rocketman” is here, showing off Taron Egerton as the iconic pop star.

Boasting the tagline “based on a true fantasy” the film promises a closer look into John’s life. With November’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” just around the corner, it seems as though biopics on musicians are on the rise.

Judging from the one-minute teaser, “Rocketman” will be a dramatic retelling of his rise to fame and eventual stardom.  Best known for his role in the “Kingsmen” franchise, Egerton looks surprisingly like the iconic “Tiny Dancer” singer, dawning the iconic and flamboyant outfits and glasses.

Starting with the iconic music to “Bennie and the Jets” the trailer immediately has viewers tapping their toes and singing along to what has become one of Elton John’s anthems. The teaser promises some inventive shots, including a levitated crowd surrounding Elton on the piano.

The film is a reunion for “Eddie the Eagle” director Dexter Fletcher and Egerton, who starred in the 2013 film. “Rocketman” is still filming, and set to be released on May 19, 2019.

[MUSIC] WHO HAD THE BEST COLLAB ALBUM IN THE PAST YEAR

[MUSIC] WHO HAD THE BEST COLLAB ALBUM IN THE PAST YEAR

The past year and a half collab projects have been kinda trendy whether its two famous artist working together or an artist and a producer working together. Some have done amazing while others have flopped. This got me thinking which collab would take it all in a tourmant? Between Future and Young Thug ” Super Slimey”, Travis Scott and Quavo ” Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho”, Kanye West and Kid Cudi ” Kids See Ghosts”, 21 Savage, Offset & Metro Boomin ” Without Warning”, with several others that I will touch upon in other post.

All of these collab albums were met with positive and negative reviews. Future and Young Thug surprise album was want many people wanted but this album is not what we asked for. On ” Super Slimey” Future and Thug coexistent on it but they aren’t at their peak.  This album was a syrupy Auto-tune, expensive timepieces, and double cups talk. To me after a while it started to sound like they put very little work in making it.

Travis Scott & Quavo probably had the best album, but it wasnt the best they could do. This album is what you expect from two of the most influencing artist in the game right now. The beats were amazing the ad-lib slapped on every track and thee flows were amazing. But the lyrics left a lot to be desired and many times it felt like Travis was taking a backseat to Quavo whether that was planned or not remains to be the question. In all it was a decent collab album but it could have been way better.

Without Warning is a Zone 6 album for sure. The dark nature with 21 savage rapping about guns and having people mommy crying to Offset telling people he the boogie man in real life, kinda lets you in on what the trenches out there are like. But they did give us the Ric Flair drip we all desperately needed. This album has very little replay value but it was good for the moment.

Now “Kids see Ghost” is the album most of need because who doesn’t relive a little bit of stress when they hear Kid Cudi humming. The album kinda brought Kid Cudi back onto the scene and with Ye producing it was a match made in heaven. The bars slapped, the beats slapped, the flow slaps, but the only problem is, it’s a mood album. That means you have to be in certain kind of mood aka( depressed or anxiety going crazy) for you to really be in tune with the vibe. This album has replay value but you can’t listen to it everyday, unless your life is a wreck.

Theres many collab albums that i havent touched upon and many coming out this year that we are excited for. But in all the recent and most notable ones leave a lot to be desired. Let me know your thoughts on these albums, which ones your enticed to see happening and which ones you want to happen.

[ENTERTAINMENT] LINDSAY LOHAN’S AWKWARD ENCOUNTER WITH REFUGEE FAMILY ENDS IN PUNCH TO THE FACE

[ENTERTAINMENT] LINDSAY LOHAN’S AWKWARD ENCOUNTER WITH REFUGEE FAMILY ENDS IN PUNCH TO THE FACE

Lindsay Lohan’s Instagram Live video is causing people to do a double take.

In a since deleted post, the “Mean Girls” actress approaches a family of Syrian refugees and repeatedly offers to buy them a hotel room. However, when they ignore her, she starts to get increasingly hostile, accusing the parents of child trafficking and demanding the children come with her, only to be punched in the face by the mother.

The full video begins with Lohan getting out of her car and approaching a family of Syrian refugees on the street saying “Tell me your story so I can help you.”

She then repeatedly offers to buy them a hotel room. “Do you want to stay in a hotel tonight? Do you want to watch movies? It would be so cool, right?” she asks the family, focusing on the young child. Seems like a nice enough gesture — if not slightly surprising, but when they declined the offer, obviously that should have been the end of it.

The family ignored her request and picked up their belongings, walking away. She followed them as they walked down the street, claiming in a poorly delivered Arabic accent that the family is “ruining Arabic culture by doing this.”

She continues to tell the children “I won’t leave until I take you,” again in a bad fake accent. “I’m with you boys. Don’t worry. The whole world is seeing this right now.”

Lohan kept following the family as she filmed them, yelling that the children were being taken. Eventually, the woman escorting the children, presumably their mother, turned around and confronts the “Freaky Friday” actress, punching her in the face. Lohan can be heard screaming as the camera shakes out of focus as the family walked away. She turned the camera on herself, crying as she said how scared she was and “I don’t think I can ever change.”

Lohan, who posted she was in Moscow for the day, is infamous for her drug and alcohol abuse, so questions of her sobriety immediately came to mind.

Is it wrong to ofer to help refugees? Certainly not, but to continue to follow and harass the family, in a bad fake accent no less, is obviously where she went wrong. The whole story reeks of white saviorism.

Of course, we can’t know for sure what was going through Lohan’s head, but it seems as though she thought she could just come in, take these children as be seen as the hero. Is she trying to be a good person, or trying to stay relevant? I’d like to give her the benefit of the doubt, but the fake accent and the remarks about Pakistan (at one point in the video, she says “Don’t f*ck with Pakistan.”) I can’t help but be skeptical.

Harassment and attempted kidnapping are obviously no laughing matter, but Twiter took it upon themselves to express their frustration with the former “The Parent Trap” star.

[ENTERTAINMENT] HARLEY QUINN SPIN-OFF ‘BIRDS OF PREY’ CASTS KEY ROLES ALONGSIDE MARGOT ROBBIE

[ENTERTAINMENT] HARLEY QUINN SPIN-OFF ‘BIRDS OF PREY’ CASTS KEY ROLES ALONGSIDE MARGOT ROBBIE

After her role as Harley Quinn was labeled one of the few bright spots of 2016’s “Suicide Squad” Margot Robbie finds herself front and center of the upcoming spin-off “Birds of Prey.”

Some expected Batman’s more famous female villains, like Catwoman and Poison Ivy, to appear in the film, but it look like “Birds of Prey” will focus on some less high-profile members of Batman’s Rogues Gallery.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead has been cast as the Huntress. The actress, who has recently been in “10 Cloverfield Lane” and the third season of FX’s “Fargo” found herself at the center of light controversy after her “Fargo” costar Ewan McGregor left his wife of 23 years to persue a relationship with Winstead.

“True Blood” actor Jurnee Smollett-Bell has been cast as Black Canary, beating out Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Janelle Monae for the role. Black Canary has previously been portrayed as Caucasian, but this isn’t the first time a comic book character has had its race changed. Will Smith played Deadshot in “Suicide Squad” and Michael B. Jordan was cast as Johnny Storm in Josh Trank’s ill-fated “Fantastic Four” remake.

Robbie has described the spin-off as an “R-rated girl gang film.” She also spoke about how it was originally pitched as a stand-alone solo film focusing on Quinn, but the character works best when feeding off other characters, so the idea to have multiple female villains alongside her was chosen as the best possible option.

As reported by Variety, “Birds of Prey” will be released on February 7, 2020.
