Nicki Minaj is ready to take back the spotlight after Cardi B’s release of her debut album Invasion of Privacy that dropped last Friday. Nicki has been pretty low key this year, only releasing features but this Thursday she has a huge surprise for us.
The cover art looks lovely and throws us back to the roots of her Barbie image. The buns look insanely adorable and that thong and jacket combination is killing me.
The style seems very 2010 when she would regularly wearing insane wigs as a part of her persona.
Does this mean Roman is on the track????????
Roman has been dormant for a few years since we only really saw him on her earlier albums but I think that it is time for a come-back, and especially because that personality she channels is one of my favorite assets of her rap.
I also noticed that Nicki has been stepping up her game on her verses recently because for a long time it seemed like she hit a wall where she was saying “pussy on your sideburns” almost every feature. But her verse on “MotorSport” showed us all that she has been holding back.
I will run to my computer at 10 am on Thursday to hear what the queen of rap has in store for us. These rappers really be out here trying to murder us with all this new music.
It’s settled. Niggas really ain’t shit. I’m on Twitter scrolling down my TL and came across an article that really pissed me off. I’m pretty sure that everyone and their mom knows that Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson are expecting a babygirl in just a few days! Literally, if you go on Instagram, the celebrity couple is everywhere. What I came across was a video of Tristan caught on tape locking lips with another chick at a club in Manhattan. Crazy, I know.. I thought the same. Khloe is currently set to give birth to their babygirl in a Cleveland hospital, and this guy is out here messing around! Thompson was staying in New York with his team for the game against the Knicks Monday evening and last Saturday, the videos were taken. The clips show the pair chatting closely before the woman leaned her head towards him for a kiss.
You’d think that impregnating a Kardashian is every man’s dream. Unfortunately for Khloe, it seems no matter what she’s always taking L’s. This just proves that majority of men in this industry are immature, and no matter who they are and how loyal they may seem they are all dogs at the end of the day. Sadly, whenever the opportunity presents itself, they never fail to make us women look stupid. Watch the video clip below via DailyMail.
ATTENTION, ATTENTION!! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!! Nicki Minaj just posted on her Instagram that she will be dropping two new singles “Barbie Tingz” and “Chun-Li” Thursday night everywhere 10amPst 1pmEst. It feels like it’s been a hot minute since she’s released something sooo and new, so I know fans can’t wait to hear this!
“Just Dance” sent Lady Gaga into instant stardom and she would continue on with her career to be one of the most influential names in the pop music today. She influenced pop culture so heavily in 2009-2012 that almost every star was competing with her- even in different genres.
She tweeted this out to her fans:
I can’t believe it’s been ten years since the release of Just Dance. It’s very emotional and I am so grateful to little monsters for sticking by me all these years. Cheers to many more, filled with love & bravery to be yourself. I love you so so much 💕 pic.twitter.com/gV9CZZ2ZJi
I am so happy that Lady Gaga was able to break out into the industry ten years ago to rework everything we thought we knew about pop culture. Lady Gaga is the Madonna of our generation and should be treated as such. Even though she has moved on from her stage persona with her album Joanne, she will always go down in history and “Just Dance” marks the start of her takeover.
For the first performance, she sang a melody of her smash hits, “Bodak Yellow” and equally as good “Bartier Cardi.”
Check out the performance here:
The performance was amazing, with the background vocals to set it apart from any show she has done before. Dressed in her Invasion of Privacy styled sunglasses and coupled with her talented background dancers, she gave a performance that looks like it should be on the Grammy stage. As she shouts, “we sinning tonight and going to church tomorrow” she breaks into Bartier Cardi.
As we weren’t already amazed by this performance she gave us a heartfelt performance of “Be Careful.”
Watch her performance of “Be Careful” here:
I didn’t think her breath was timed right, but she was probably trying to save herself from cursing on live television while performing a song that is highly explicit. I also think it’s funny how she uses a different singer to perform the chorus but on the real song, there are no much-needed features. Then at about two minutes and forty seconds, the camera pans down to show her pregnant belly in an elegant white dress as the crowd begins to cheer. It amazes me that she is at the height of her career and now has a baby on the way. Hey, I don’t think I could perform that well when I was in the middle of a pregnancy.
Overall the S.N.L. stage is known to make or break careers and Cardi killed it. I would expect her to be a returning guest.
The song comes off as a feminist anthem as he raps:
“That’s a real one in your reflection
Without a follow, without a mention
You really pipin’ up on these niggas
You gotta, be nice for what, to these niggas?
I understand”
Drake sings and raps about female empowerment and how they don’t need to focus their life on a man. He respects the hustle these women go through and needs them to know that they shouldn’t be talked down to or held down. It is kind of a really weird message to say from a male’s point of view, but Drake knows what is current in the music industry. On Friday, Cardi b just released her debut album Invasion of Privacy which holds the main theme of female empowerment. Basically, women are going to start becoming a lot more powerful with these influencers preaching about feminism.
Overall, the video for “Nice For What” is really good because of the female role models singing the chorus, but honestly, I don’t like the song that much. It seems a little overdone and I wouldn’t even know it was a Drake track if it was on the radio. Drake also based his entire career off of women not being nice to him, and now he is saying “you don’t have to be nice to me”- make up your mind Drake! Although he wants to encourage females, he isn’t a female- which can come off as condescending. I think Drake is trying to hop on the trend train, but “Nice for What” just doesn’t have the same staying power as “God’s Plan” or “Look Alive”- which are both on the charts right now.
