He is an artist that certainly has a lot of talent and has helped other artists write songs for their albums. He has a vision and raw talent to excel in this game. Also, his music videos have a lot of creativity to really display the message in his songs. He already has a great experience in the industry and I would expect him to have a break out hit in the next few months. We need someone in rap that isn’t sticking to a mumble rap style and he is willing to go out of the box.
Just check out the trailer for the first season here:
The first season of the show was groundbreaking. It was a perfect combination of mystery with an 80s spin. The show really did look like something that was produced before its time and had a great script that kept everyone guessing for the entire time. It was truly an enjoyable watch.
After the first season premiered, everyone sat patiently and waited for season two to premiere. Season two premiered on October 27th, 2017 and everyone ran to watch it. But as soon as they watched at least two of the episodes- almost everyone with high standards became instantly disappointed.
The main problem with the script and storyline was that Stranger Things thought it was bigger than it was. It played on everything the fans wanted and left so many details out to create an extremely confusing plotline that didn’t follow a central theme. For example, with the absence of the main female character Eleven, they place another girl into the mix- named Max and she does absolutely nothing to add to the story to the point where I’m unsure why she’s there- also why did she have a beyond creepy relationship with her brother? Then they were extremely corny and placed jokes that fans would want in there and really played up the romance between Eleven and Mike when it really wasn’t that highlighted in the first season. Then episode eight is where I lost it- eleven and her sidekick friends including eight, nine and ten team up for God knows what reason. The acting couldn’t even save this scene. The show basically just got cocky with their level of fame that they forgot to actually make a show.
I have no idea, but I won’t be watching it. It seems like this show got caught up in its level of fame and completely lost their original touch. I expect bad writing, bad acting and product placements (hello Eggo Waffles & KFC). I couldn’t imagine anyone enjoying season two and definitely not enough to watch another season. Hopefully, the writers know they are under fire and will take that into consideration for the next season.
Today on March 28th marks the 23rd anniversary of Ol’ Dirty Bastard‘s seminal debut album “Return to the 36 Chambers“. This was the rapper’s first solo album since his rise to fame as apart of the Wu-Tang Clan. This album hit the Top 10 Billboard’s album’s chart and featured songs “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” and “Brooklyn Zoo“. Anyone who knows real Rap knows that ODB’s rhymes were original and outlandish, yet HARD. A lot of you may know him for his remix of MariahCarey’s 1995 hit “Fantasy” and his collaboration on Ghetto Superstar” with Pras and Mya. It wasn’t until after, that ODB’s life took an unfortunate turn with his addiction to drugs and numerous arrests. After being placed into rehab and then prison, he passed on November 13, 2004 from an overdose. R.I.P. Brooklyn’s very own ODB Aka one of my favorite rappers. Check out some of my favorite records from him. If you’re an old soul like me, maybe you’ll like them too.
Around 2013 Buzzfeed articles suddenly showed up everywhere on people’s timelines and it was infectious. Everyone wanted to read the fun articles with cute gifs to describe uncomfortable situations or taking a funny spin on the daily struggles people face. Around this time, they were at the top of their game- pushing their liberal agenda on everyone. It seemed like everyone assumed that the majority of the younger generation identified as liberal due to the reach of this website.
The main problem that comes up, is that this country is not primarily liberal. In the 2016 election, Donald Trump became president and he is one of the most conservative presidents to ever enter the white house. If all our social media was flooded with liberal ideas, how did we elect someone who was so conservative?
This is when the conspiracy comes in- Buzzfeed might be political propaganda to manipulate the citizens of this country. Think about it- before the election, I assumed that almost everyone in their 20s was a liberal and that we were all taking steps to creating a new future. When Bernie Sanders ran for president I thought he was going to win because his ideas fit with the majority of the population. What happened was the complete opposite. So if one of the internet’s biggest source of information is mostly liberal- how did we elect someone who is so conservative? Not to mention that he has been one of the most corrupt presidents of all time. It is such a contradiction that it would be stupid to not look into it further. By creating the idea in people’s heads that the country is liberal it makes them blind to the things that are going on behind the scenes.
So Buzzfeed is tailoring these people to have a certain image and have certain ideas to get their liberal agenda to their employees, which leaves them with almost no time to work on their own projects. It certainly seems like something is going on, and the fact that they try to change their worker’s core values are a red flag.
During the time in this political climate, we have to start questioning things. The government is starting to become increasingly more controlling, and Trump is being pretty shady for a president. We have to realize that the government does, in fact, lie to us and we have to start taking a different perspective on these issues before it’s too late.
I used to be an extreme fan of pop punk when I was in high school. I spent all my time going to shows and spent all my money at Hot Topic. I was a huge fan of the scene, that I let it take over my life. Just kidding, it wasn’t that deep, but I did spend all my time listening to these bands like Citizen, The Wonder Years, The Story of Far and many other artists that scream sung lyrics about the pains of growing up and heartbreak, along with other darker themes. The joy of this music is that it is not afraid to get vulnerable and the “angst” make for some really great music.
I haven’t been listening to the genre for quite some time now just simply because I grew out of the music and bands weren’t really releasing anything after 2015. I was surprised when I went on Spotify radio to find out that all my favorite bands were actually releasing music- I just wasn’t keeping up with them.
Also, I noticed that the bands have grown up too. They are no longer being extremely whiny and are focusing their lyrics more on the distaste in themselves, instead of primarily keeping to the theme of someone who broke their heart.
Here is some of the music I found when I was taking a trip down memory lane:
“Sister Cities” by The Wonder Years:
I am amazed by the talent from The Wonder Years. After their 2015 release, No Closer to Heaven I thought that was going to be the end for them. Their talent is unstoppable.
Citizen – “In the Middle of It All:”
Sorority Noise – “A Portrait Of:”
And here are some other songs I found that are a little outdated but still so good:
Sorority Noise – “Blonde Hair, Black Lungs:”
Wavves – “My Head Hurts:”
Bye guys, I’m going to go grab my eyeliner and buy a ticket to go these their shows.
