WILL SMITH CELEBRATES HIS SON’S SUCCESS WITH A PARODY

Jaden Smith, the son of Will Smith, has always been extremely talented. What else would you expect coming from a family with extreme talent?

Not only is Jaden a dancer and an actor, he is also a rapper. Jaden Smith debuted his studio album, “SYRE,” on November 17th, 2017 and so far the title track “ICON” has about 30 million streams on Spotify. His hard work paid off since he just hit 100 million Spotify streams in total.

Check out Jaden’s break out song “Icon”:

We are seeing him on the path to complete stardom, which is to be expected. But before he could have his moment, his father had to humble him down. To celebrate Will Smith just put out a parody of his music video “Icon.” No matter how old he gets, Will never misses the chance to embarrass him, and we are thanking him for.

Check out his dad’s congratulations video:

Will truly never fails to entertain

COREY CLEMENT: A TRUE SOUTH JERSEY SUCCESS STORY

Was the Sunday even REAL? I know ya’ll peeped all the shenanigans that went on in Philadelphia that night after the Eagles won the Super Bowl.  My Instagram and Snapchat were flooded with a bunch of Eagles fans celebrating and doing stupid sh*t.  People were climbing up street lights, standing on top of buildings, even riding on the back of ambulance trucks.  People were out there wildin’ B. Lol I’m surprised they didn’t burn the whole city down!

Despite all the celebrating, Corey Clement’s name has been everywhere this season. Whether you’ve been rocking with the Philadelphia Eagles or not, you can’t help but respect the story of a true underdog. Running back, Corey Clement had some big plays  this season including a nice 21-yard touchdown during the championship.  See, I keep tryna tell ya’ll there’s a huge wave coming out of Jersey.  We’re ready to TAKE OVER with all this hidden talent we got up in here!

Congratulations Corey #30. Who gets the chance to beat Tom Brady in the Super Bowl? Check Super Bowl Champ Corey Clement out on Instagram (@yeroc_).  And for those of you going to the parade, to celebrate the Birds’ victory – Keep that ass warm and stay safe out there!

If you didn’t see Philly the other night…

Eagles fans are wreckless, but at least they’re loyal, right?

WITNESSING KATY PERRY’S DEMISE: CAN WE GO BACK TO 2009?

It seems like stars nowadays sell their souls to the pop making machine and lose sight of everything that made them famous in the first place. One of the biggest examples of this is Katy Perry. Katy Perry’s latest album Witness which was released June 9, 2017, was pure garbage. She was doing all her old tricks and tips but it didn’t seem to fully come together since the concept of the album seemed to fall apart. Her single “Bon Appétit” was complete trash and the music video was highly uncomfortable as Perry was seasoning herself to be cooked for a room full of cannibals. I can’t even believe that the Migos even signed to put a verse in this song. The only reason they must have done it was for the publicity but that backfired when it wasn’t well received.

Katy released “PRISM” in 2013 and it wasn’t as good as her past stuff but it generated a lot of hits that helped build her brand that strayed away from her original image. Her 2010 release Teenage Dream set literal records and almost every song on the album was released as a single, shooting her to complete stardom. But I miss when Katy wasn’t a huge star.

I want to go back in time to when Katy released her debut album in 2009, One of the Boys. This album included so many great songs, with personality and character. No one can ever replace the cheekiness of “I Kissed a Girl” that was released in a time where homophobia was still strong. Not only were the hits off this record like, “Waking up in Vegas” and “Hot N Cold” exceptional, but the rest of the tracks were also still just as great. Tracks like “Thinking of You” is probably one of the best songs that she has ever put out and one of the best tracks about heartbreak that has ever been put out. “Ur So Gay” is a funny song that pokes fun at an ex, while maintaining to still be catchy. “Mannequin,” “If You Can Afford me” and “Self Inflicted” are the standout tracks that are ten times better than anything she puts out today. I don’t think we are ever going to see this Katy again since it is pretty clear that she has lost her mind in this mess.

Here are my top picks of Katy Perry’s best songs and covers:

[NEW MUSIC] MGMT’S LITTLE DARK AGE DUE OUT THIS FRIDAY

MGMT emerged as one of the most popular bands to sprout in the tail end of the 2000s, playing a distinct blend of electronic rock and psychedelic pop. They were signed by Columbia Records prior to the release of their neon-bright debut album Oracular Spectacular in 2007. This album wasn’t just an album but an iconic piece of music that inspired everyone after them. They had a look and a sound that simulates the spontaneous nature of life while being entranced in the bad and the good parts of it.

The sound is unlike any other, except all the bands that have copied them. Their most popular song, “Electric Feel” makes the listener instantly want to dance and move to the beat. “Time to Pretend” off their first album captures the emotion of happiness in only four minutes. The sound of MGMT really brings the listener into a different reality. Their pure talent to tap into people’s subconscious shot them to instant success, and success that was rightfully deserved. When someone hears, “MGMT” they don’t think of a band, but icons.

MGMT’s fourth album officially has a release date: Little Dark Age drops Feb. 9 via Columbia Records.

Here is the full Tracklist:
01. She Works Out Too Much
02. Little Dark Age
03. When You Die
04. Me and Michael
05. TSLAMP
06. James
07. Days That Got Away
08. One Thing Left To Try
09. When You’re Small
10. Hand It Over

Here are the title tracks that have already been released from the album:

The music video for “When You Die” is one of the most creative videos I have seen in a long time. It starts off as a normal scene and then breaks off into multiple colors and graphics. These trippy visuals go along with the playfulness of the song. The sign of a great music video is giving another meaning to the song to enhance it, and MGMT is always putting out great content to add to their discography.

Their stand out song “Little Dark Age” excites me because they are going into a different sound while still maintaining their roots. There seems to be more lyrical content than the instrumentals on this record. This is a cool new direction that I am liking. I am prepared for this to be their best album to date. The gothic style in this video is very fitting and I hope they explore dark themes throughout the album. Overall, the first few tracks have blown my mind, so I expect February 9th to be a great day for the music world. Thank you MGMT for blessing us with another album.

[JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE’S SUPER BOWL PERFORMANCE] WAS #SELFIEKID STAGED?

This past Sunday, February 4th was the biggest football game of the year: The Super Bowl. The Eagles remained triumphant as the underdogs taking on the Patriots. The score of the game was 41 to 33 and the game had everyone on the edge of their seats. The Eagles were outperforming themselves, and Justin Timberlake should have taken notes for his Super Bowl halftime performance.

Watch the Performance Here:

The beginning of the performance was a little shaky and I wondered why the would ask him to perform when he hasn’t been current for a while. I really liked Lady GaGa’s performance last year which incorporated glam and the high stage production that left people talking about her performance. Justin was wearing some ridiculous outfit that looked like he was taking a trip to the grocery store, with camo pants and a similar color t-shirt that clashed. Some would say that fashion doesn’t matter, but it is a component of a performing artist. I would say the performance really started during the Prince tribute, but many people thought it was straight awful. I really was confused why Justin Timberlake would be covering a Prince song when they are entirely different artists. Despite this, it was pretty cool to see him throw the mic around during his song, “Suit & Tie” and the visuals during “Mirrors” was a highlight of the entire performance.

But no one is talking about the performance, they are only talking about the kid that Justin Timberlake ran up to when he was in the crowd during his last song, “CAN’T STOP THE FEELING!” If you are watching the video on Youtube, the moment happens at 12:48, where you can see the Ryan McKenna, the 13-year-old boy who instead of enjoying the moment with this super famous iconic pop star, was snapping a selfie and looking at his phone during his halftime performance. The memes were almost instant and sent a shockwave across the entire internet.

Although this happened and it was, of course, funny, it almost seems planned. Justin Timberlake could have gone to any spot in the entire crowd but he chose this one kid, and the kid did something heavily comedic that they knew would blow up on the internet. Memes are starting to become a huge marketing plan since it reaches a huge amount of people. The kid Ryan even got 8,000 followers on Snapchat and Instagram. He also got featured on NBC News and Good Morning America. This also drew an insane amount of publicity for Justin Timberlake’s performance and the hashtag #SelfieKid was trending almost instantly. The amount of publicity this got was almost suspicious. Fans should be talking about Justin’s performance rather than a kid in the crowd. Think to yourself: if you see that everyone is talking about this “hilarious” kid in the crowd, wouldn’t you want to click on the performance to watch it? It seems like everything in the music industry is calculated and I wouldn’t be surprised if this was staged for the publicity. Timberlake hasn’t been current in a long time, and since he has a new record he just put out, “Man of the Woods” he probably wants to relate to audiences by having a funny performance, but it lacked what we actually wanted: substance.

Although it might have been planned, it was still pretty funny.

Here are the best memes:

BRUNO MARS IS PARTYIN’ WITH CARDI ON HIS WORLD TOUR

On February 3rd, Bruno Mars announced that he will be going on a world tour via Instagram. The tour will be in twelve cities across the United States and Canada. He will be including Cardi B as his opening act, which is a perfect combination after their extremely popular remix of “Finesse,” which already has almost 200 million views just in the first month. Overall, we are certainly trippin’ about this concert.

The tour dates include:

  • Boston, Ma
  • Brooklyn, NY
  • Dallas, TX
  • Denver, CO
  • Detroit, MI
  • Los Angeles, CA
  • Nashville, TN
  • Newark, NJ
  • Philadelphia, PA
  • St. Paul, MN
  • Toronto, ON
  • Tulsa, OK

The tickets go up for sale on February 16, so make sure you have saved up enough money to purchase them. I expect the Brooklyn show will be sold out in a matter of minutes. Not just because New York is one of the most popular venues, but because it is Cardi B’s hometown which she reps every chance she gets. I expect high energy, amazing choreography, and great stage effects. Who knows, maybe the opener will be better than the main act?
