[NEW MUSIC] KENIF MUSE DROPS NEW PROJECT “ETA”

Kenif Muse surprised us with a new EP titled, ETA “Estimated Time of Arrival” the other day and it is a vibe! Like I said before, Jersey’s got a strong wave coming and this artist/producer is on his way! He only linked up with Hotman and KilConfirmed for this one. Stream “ETA” below via Spotify and let us know your thoughts on it.

[UNPOPULAR OPINION] HALSEY IS HORRIBLY UNLIKEABLE

Halsey is an American pop artist and songwriter who got big off of her hit, “New Americana” that spent 17 weeks on the Billboard chart. Halsey has some decent music with her 2014 EP, Room 93 and her album Badlands that was released in 2015 and her recent release the Hopeless Fountain Kingdom in 2017.

Listen to some of her best songs here:

Although she does have good music that is typically pop based, something feels so off with her. I want to like her as a person but I just can’t based off of how condescending and ignorant she is. She claims to be someone who has their third eye completely opened but is using all her “differences” to market to teenagers which is hypocritical and goes against everything she stands for. She is basically a walking contradiction and almost everyone can see through it because she isn’t good at hiding it.

She thinks she’s the best thing to ever happen since sliced beard

Watch her talk on any interview, she thinks she is the second coming of Christ because she is bisexual. How different and creative, girlfriend. She says things out of her ass that come back to bite her. Then she has to make public statements that what she said isn’t what she meant. Really because it seems like you’re only making a statement because of the negative backlash. So condescending.

“TRI-BI”

Speaking of talking out of your ass, in an interview she claimed to be “tri-bi” because she is biracial, bisexual and has bipolar disorder. How ignorant. First of all, she is not special for being bisexual, which annoys the crap out of me. No one is more interesting for liking the same sex and the people who believe that they are probably have nothing else interesting about themselves. Not only does she think she’s cool, she uses her sexuality to market herself by appealing to a gay crowd to the point where I think she’s literally lying about her sexuality. Then contradicts herself by saying that she would never do that, and then has multiple videos of her half naked kissing girls.

Then she goes and wants to label herself as bi-polar like it is something to be proud of. She shouldn’t be romanticizing mental illness because that is extremely toxic and makes people actually want to have a disorder in order to be “cool.” Also, you shouldn’t let your struggle become your identity- HALSEY. Then she is biracial like ok cool, I’m here for the music. She now claims to hate that label because it makes her look stupid, which she is for even saying it in the first place.

She claims to be alternative?

Halsey constantly claims to be alternative or alt-rock based on her looks but every single song she puts out is pop. Also not only is it pop, but it’s generic pop. She is trying to be different and convince us she is, but she isn’t. Yes, the way she dresses can be seen as alternative but that does not correlate to her music style. You can’t just claim you are alternative when you put out trash songs like this:

She is Tumblr vomit

Her look and attitude are ripped off from Tumblr to the point where you can point out that her whole stage persona is completely manufactured. She wants to appeal to the social justice warrior side of Tumblr that is open about sexuality, politics, and feminism. It almost seems like she is reading from a script to create this stage persona.

It doesn’t seem genuine at all and it is just pathetic to see her trying this hard and still fail. She thinks she is going to be the next pop icon but I am sure she is going to fade out soon, and hopefully fast. I can’t stand this condescending poser and I want to listen to a singer who isn’t going to blatantly lie to their fans for publicity.

Check out this Youtube video that explains perfectly why Halsey is so unlikeable:

KALI UCHIS’ DEBUT ALBUM ISOLATION RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED

Kali Uchis is a Colombian singer tailoring the 60s-chic/90s-urban style to make her the perfect new artist we need in music today.

Check out my article on her rise to fame here

She has gotten a lot of attention this past year with the help of her song, “After the Storm” featuring Tyler the Creator.

Watch this amazing music video here:

She is generating a lot of buzz and got to perform her song alongside Tyler and band Roots during her first late-night TV appearance on The Tonight Show.

You can watch this career-altering performance here:

Ok, does anyone else agree that she is drop dead gorgeous?

She is certainly ready for her big debut. She took her stage time to announce that her debut album Isolation will be released April 6 on Interscope.

She has been making moves since 2012 by being featured on Snoop Dogg, Gorillaz and Tyler the Creator’s tracks.

She told Nylon:

“There are a couple of songs about trying to make a better life for yourself in a world that feels like people make their come-ups off of those who make minimum wage. It’s easy to just write about love because everyone can relate, but I like variety.”

Watch her teaser for the album she posted on Instagram below:

We need someone like Kali in the game. She is paving her way with a unique style and is not afraid to dive into topics that don’t include typical cliches. I am marking my calendar for April 6th and except a full album review coming up!

#KANYEMADNESS

I’m sure you know by now that March Madness has begun and I bet you filled out at least one bracket. But a friend of mine sent me a tweet the other day with a different bracket that quickly blew up. A Kanye Bracket. Carrington Harrison, a sports radio host, gathered a group of friends and fellow Kanye West fans and created a fully seeded, 64 song tournament of what they decided were the best ‘Ye songs of all time and I couldn’t help but take a break from sports and fill one out. The bracket was divided into four sections, “Donda,” “North West,” “Chicago,” and “Saint”. The seedings alone are enough for debate but I played along and pushed through some brutal early matchups (“All Falls Down” v. “Addiction” and “Power v. “Father Stretch My Hands PT. 1” in the first round to name a few). I made all my picks based on my own personal taste with some weight being put on the songs’ mass popularity. I debated over each song like my life depended on it, listening to them as I went. I’ve always been a huge Kanye fan with an admitted sweet spot for his older stuff but my favorite thing about his music is that every album has a different sound and purpose. He always pushes the genre in new directions, taking stuff that no one is doing and making it dope. And that only makes it harder to stack his hits up next to each other. I finally settled on a Final Four of “Flashing Lights” against “All Of The Lights” and “Say You Will” facing “Gorgeous”. Definitely the toughest choices of all. I have “Flashing Lights” beating “All Of The Lights” and then beating “Gorgeous” as well to win the whole thing. Although honestly I would have picked “All Of The Lights” over “Gorgeous” if the seeding had shook out differently. “Flashing Lights” was a lock to win from the beginning, that has been and always will be my favorite Kanye track. Regardless it was a lot of fun and definitely worth wasting most of my afternoon. So if you’re a big Kanye fan like myself or if you just have nothing to do tonight fill out a bracket. You can click the original tweet below to see the bracket and see where yours stacks up against others submitted earlier. Enjoy, and in Yeezus’ name, amen.

LIL UZI VERT CAN ACTUALLY RAP

“Mumble rap isn’t real rap”

“These new rappers are trash”

“I can’t believe this is even considered rap”

“These rappers have no real talent”

“Lil Uzi Vert is trash”

Blah Blah Blah

People claim that the new generation of rap doesn’t make sense or that it is cheap but people don’t realize that these artists can actually indeed rap. One has to have the talent to make it big in the industry and if you think that these people didn’t put in any work to get to their level of fame you are wrong. Most of these artists know what people want to hear and take full advantage of it to make a name for themselves.

Lil Uzi Vert has been said to be someone with no talent and just someone who got famous for no reason with the help of mumble rap. But there is talent behind his stage persona.

Just check out him in 2013:

Watch his music evolution here for further proof:

Mumble rap is defined as a catch-all term to describe any young rapper whose appeal lies in melody and mood rather than traditional lyricism. But the thing is that Lil Uzi Vert does know how to write lyrics and rap. He saw the trend in rap and jumped right on the boat. He could tailor his voice to become a huge name in rap so why wouldn’t he? I actually think that it adds so much to him and fits his voice better. If he stayed in the traditional style he wouldn’t have gotten as big as he did. Isn’t hip-hop all about innovation?

Can you imagine a world where XO Tour Llif3 didn’t exist?

Lil Uzi Vert used mumble rap to define his certain style and to get big within the scene. He became a character and that shot him to stardom. In 2015 you can clearly see that he had a change in his style that it suited him nicely to bring out his greatest assets. And he carefully constructed a gothic rapper image who apparently “worshiped the devil.” He made a name for himself in the game, even though at first everyone was questioning what it was all about. Everyone was talking about him, and for the good or the bad- it made him an instant celebrity. Haters say that he can’t rap but the evidence is there that he can certainly do it, and do it well. I wouldn’t say he tricked us but he certainly is intelligent.

I would expect him to come out with an “actual” rap album later on in his career. He has this hidden talent that he has been waiting to let out. He is riding the wave of how popular this new style is, and it really works for him. I think he is a much better entertainer with mumble rap and his stage persona. He is a well-rounded artist who is interesting and someone you want to listen to. I wouldn’t say it’s all an act but a really carefully constructed way to get attention so he can let out his true talent. There is only a hand full of people who make it in the industry, and he certainly has. Many people would say that he isn’t intelligent but clearly, he is smarter than all of us. I can’t wait for him to display different styles of rap in the future and continue to keep us on our toes.
