[IT’S TMIX SEASON] T-PAIN’S SURPRISINGLY GOOD COVER OF “BARTIER CARDI”

For some reason, T-Pain decided to cover Cardi B’s recent hit “Bartier Cardi.” When I first read the headline I was confused as to why T-Pain would even cover this song in the first place since their rap styles are so entirely different. But after I heard the snippet, I can tell that T-Pain had a vision for this song.

Listen to the original here if you haven’t already:

Here is T-Pain’s snippet of the cover that Cardi posted to her Instagram account:

T-Pain wrote on his Instagram post, “It’s TMix Season,” and it certainly is. It is different from the “swag” that Cardi throws on the track. T-Pain gives the song a more autotuned feel, as always. There is also a lyric change, which I am not too excited about, but it would have been awkward if T-Pain was talking about giving “top” to rapper Offset, who Cardi is currently engaged to.

Currently, there is no release date for the full remix, but you know I am going to listen to it when it comes out. Who knew that two different artists could come together to create something so distinct? T-Pain really took a typical 2018 song and sent it back to 2009.

[BRIGHTEN UP YOUR DAY] POST MALONE HIGH SCHOOL PICTURES

Post Malone, or Postie, has gotten a lot of popularity in the last few years. His stage presence is what sets him apart from other people in the industry. He is not afraid to get silly and weird on stage, while also dressing in borderline ridiculous clothing. He is not just talented, but he has a huge sense of humor.

Just check out how funny he is here:

Since he is such a huge comedian or tries to be at least, I could only imagine the antics he got into in high school. He is only 22 so it was not that long ago. I am almost shocked to hear that Post is only 22 because I am only a year younger than him and he has an unbelievable amount of success for someone in their early 20s. Yeah, I’m slightly jealous of him.

The internet has surfaced photos of him when he was in high school and it’s pretty funny to see young Post.

Just check out these pictures here:

And my favorite picture of all:

He honestly seems like the class stoner, which I wouldn’t put past him. I bet he won “class comedian.” I would hate to have Post Malone, or should I say Austin Post, in my graduating class without befriending him. That high school reunion is going to be lit, and hopefully, they will include a performance of “Rockstar.”

I hope this made your day like it did mine.

[NEW COVER] LANA DEL REY’S “YOU MUST LOVE ME” RENDITION

Lana Del Rey has always put a great spin on covers. She also is a very talented songwriter that brings her unique perspective and talent to songs. It is always a great experience becoming immersed in her version.

She has even covered Creep by Radiohead!

Wait no that’s just “Get Free” aka the song that Radiohead is suing her for due to the similarities in the chord progression.

Check out the full story here

Lana Del Rey recently covered “You Must Love Me,” a song originally written for the musical Evita and recorded in the ’90s by Madonna. That is a lot to live up to Lana.

Here is the original version:

Here is Lana’s cover:

Lana always knows how to make a song sexy and romantic. It is an interesting combination that propels you into her world. The listener can really hear how much she aches for the object of desire she is singing about. I actually think that this song fits Lana’s voice even better than Madonna’s. Sometimes the cover can be better than the original.

This song will be featured on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Unmasked: The Platinum Collection.

Lana stated how honored she was to cover the song:

“Andrew Lloyd Webber has been one of my primary inspirations in music, so to do a cover of one of his songs is a dream. I especially love this particular song, “You Must Love Me,” because of how unique the melody is. I’ve been incredibly inspired by all of Andrew’s work from Phantom of the Opera to Evita.”

Andrew Lloyd Webber is certainly a talented person that has impacted culture is so many ways (hello! Phantom of the Opera people!). Unmasked is being released to celebrate Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 70th birthday.

This is a great birthday present Lana, even if it is “re-gifted.”

[TEXTING GONE WRONG] TORY LANEZ VS. NICKI MINAJ

In the music industry today basically everyone wants to work with Nicki Minaj. May it be because of the eye candy she brings to music videos, her raw talent or the notoriety one receives after working with her, she is one of the top rappers in the game. Tory Lanez wanted to get a bit of the action, but he says that he fell short- all due to his own negligence.

Tory Lanez released his new album Memories Don’t Die on March 2.

If you don’t recognize his name, you are sure to recognize this song:

On his album, there are notable features from Future and Wiz Khalifa, but he claims that he was about to work with Nicki on it too before he sent a poorly worded text message.

He claimed,

“I was telling her something about the verse. I wasn’t saying it was bad or anything, her verse was incredible, and I’m also like a super-Nicki fan. But I was telling her something, and it may have came off… Cause I was texting her, and it may have came off in a different way, she probably read it in a different way than I said it.”

I wonder what the hell he sent? Was it a nude? For some reason, I feel like we are not getting the full story here.

He then said,

“I think it maybe kinda came off a little bit arrogant, or I kinda said something I shouldn’t have said about her verse, and she was like, ‘Well, [if] it’s not that serious, take my verse off the thing.’ We was like, ‘Aight.’ I love Nicki Minaj when it comes down to her music and the whole thing, but I’m not a reacher. Once a nigga says it’s quiet, it’s quiet… Maybe in the future when the time is right, we’ll do something that’s right, that we both feel comfortable with.”

Tory Lanez is talking about Nicki like they are dating! I laughed at his statement, “maybe in the future when the time is right, we’ll do something that’s right.” It seems like they just had a breakup through text message. Maybe these two shouldn’t let their egos get in the way of their music because we might have had a great single. Sorry, Tory, you lost your chance with Miss. Minaj, I’m sure she will forgive you soon especially after this public apology.

[WATCH IT HERE FIRST] MIGOS PERFORM ON SNL

The Saturday Night Live stage holds biggest names in music. This Saturday the Migos took the stage to give us an amazing performance. They performed “Stir Fry” and “Narcos” from their latest release, Culture II– which debuted on at number one of the Billboard top 100. These are the best songs from that album. I noticed that they didn’t play, “Supastars” since it was one of the first singles off their album. This shows that it probably isn’t doing that well, which I know it isn’t because it’s just plain bad.

Check out my negative Supastars review here.

But despite all that, they returned to the stage. The first time they performed on SNL was with Katy Perry for her song, “Bon Appetit” and it didn’t do so well. First, they were caught up in a scandal since they claimed they didn’t want to perform with Drag Queens, so it was basically a hot mess.

Just check it out here:

What are you doing Katy?

But they redeemed themselves by giving it their all in this performance.

Check it out their performance of “Narcos” here:

Check out their performance of “Stir Fry” here:

Honestly, they had a little bit too much autotune. This album doesn’t perform as well as their previous release Culture. I wonder why SNL didn’t have them as musical guest when Culture was huge. Oh well, good job Migos.
