Happy Valentine’s Day! The music world is spreading lots of love today with the release of 3 new albums. What’s a better Valentine’s Day gift than new music from your favorite artists? That’s right, nothing! Flowers and chocolates are nice, but music is forever <3. Tame Impala, Justin Bieber and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie dropped albums that will fill the void in your hearts.
Justin Bieber- “Changes”
Justin Bieber has been teasing his fans with snippets of his fifth studio album Changes since the premiere of his Youtube docuseries, Seasons, last month. The LP spans 17 tracks, and includes features from, Quavo, Post Malone, Clever, Lil Dicky, Travis Scott and Kehlani. This is Bieber’s first album since 2015’s Purpose. As Bieber has hinted, most of the songs are about his wife Hailey Baldwin, making the Valentine’s Day release extra sweet. Changes has an R&B feel to it that will remind you of his Journals days. The LP is a perfect compilation of heartfelt love ballads and upbeat bops.
Tame Impala- The Slow Rush
It’s been almost 5 years since the release of Currents, and Kevin Parker is finally back with the much anticipated, The Slow Rush. Last spring, Parker released the singles, “Patience” and “Borderline,” but the album’s announcement didn’t come until the end of the year. Parker reportedly delayed the album’s release due to his perfectionism, but after giving the album a listen, it was DEFINITELY worth the wait. The LP spans 12 tracks, with a remastered version of “Borderline,” while Patience didn’t make the final cut. The album has a groovy-trance psychedelia feel to it.
A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie- Artist 2.0
On the Anniversary of his debut mixtape Artist, which was released on Feb. 14, 2016, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie has released a 2.0 version. The LP spans 20 tracks, and includes features from Roddy Rich, Young Thug, Summer Walker, DaBaby, Gunna, London on Da Track, Khalid and Trap Manny.
Megan Thee Stallion performed her single “B.*.T.C.H.” from her upcoming album Suga, last night on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
The stage was lit up with Red lights as The H-Town Hottie, who was also dressed in a red hot ensemble spit rhymes on the stage. The perfect mood for Valentine’s Day!
“B.*.T.C.H.” is produced by Helluva Beat and is a remake of of 2Pac’s “Rather Be Ya N****.” In an Interview with Beats 1, she explained that the inspiration for the song came one night after a show.
“I’m like ‘I wanna remake ‘Ratha Be Ya N****’ by 2Pac,” said Megan. “So I got Helluva Beats to make this beat for me. He literally sent me the beat the next day. I wrote a little bit of it on the plane and then I wrote the rest of it in my hotel room in the next state.” A week later she was recording the song in a Las Vegas studio.”
Caleb Landry Jones, other than having a very impressive filmography, from X-Men: First Class to Get Out, is also a very unique musician. The 30-year-old actor is set to release his debut album Mother Stone releasing on May 1. Sacred Bone Records announced on their Twitter:
We are thrilled to announce the signing of Caleb Landry Jones, whose debut album 'The Mother Stone' is out May 1st! Watch the video for the opening suite, "Flag Day / The Mother Stone." https://t.co/3M2nO2MhsZpic.twitter.com/lNB6szzw8s
As a companion to the album, Jones also released the official music video for his lead single, “Flag Day / The Mother Stone.” The psychedelic music video reminds me of older European expressionist films, with in-your-face visuals combined with trippy visuals. Jones wrote The Mother Stone in the wake of a breakup. “I started writing record after record after record after record, because I didn’t know what to do with myself,” he said in a press release. “It was a good way of healing. And it felt like as soon as I started doing it, it felt like it needed to happen all the time.”
The tone of the music video came after Jones met filmmaker Jim Jarmusch. “I was a big fan of his work,” Jones says. “Instead of wanting to talk, I thought I’d write him a piece that would somehow let him know who I was.”
The other tracks feature in the album include:
Flag Day / The Mother Stone
You’re So Wonderful
I Dig Your Dog
Katya
All I am in You / The Big Worm
No Where’s Where Nothing’s Died
Licking The Days
For The Longest Time
The Hodge-Podge Porridge Poke

The Great I Am
Lullabbey
No Where’s Where Nothing’s Died (A Marvelous Pain)

Eminem seems to keep surprising us. After the surprise release of his album Music to Be Murdered By on Jan 17, he appeared this past Sunday at the Oscars for a surprise performance of his song “Lose Yourself.”
Audience members were stunned by the unexpected appearance and performance by the rapper. Idina Menzel‘s facial expression (which has become a viral meme) said what we were all thinking: Why?
Well, now we’ve got some answers.
The rapper took the stage to perform “Lose Yourself” which won him an Oscar for Best Original Song 17 years ago. The song is from the film 8 Mile, which Eminem also stars in. Eminem was not present at the 2003 ceremony, and instead had his colloborator Luis Resto accept the award from Barbra Streisand.
In an interview with Variety, the rapper explains that he was told that the Oscars would be paying tribute to past Best Original Song Winners, with 8-Mile being part of a montage introduced by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
“I kind of figured maybe since I didn’t get a chance to do it at the time, maybe it would be cool,” he told Variety. “Back then, I never even thought that I had a chance to win, and we had just performed ‘Lose Yourself’ on the Grammys with the Roots a couple of weeks before the Oscars, so we didn’t think it was a good idea. And also, back at that time, the younger me didn’t really feel like a show like that would understand me.”
The event was a major secret, and the rapper was given the option to cancel if news of the performance had leaked. The Dolby was put under lockdown during the rapper’s rehearsals.
When asked whether he enjoyed his belated Oscar spotlight he responded, “Absolutely, I got to hug Salma Hayek!”
