According to a TMZ report, Cardi B has been indicted by a grand jury for an incident that took place in a New York City strip club.
Cardi was arrested in October for allegedly ordering an attack against two NYC bartenders, Jade and Baddie G, last August. The two women said that the fight started when Cardi B’s crew started throwing chairs and bottles at them. Most believe the bitterment started when Cardi accused Jade of sleeping with Offset.
The grand jury has indicted Cardi with 14 charges, 2 of which are felony charges of attempted assault with the intent of serious injury. The others are misdemeanors such as assault, criminal solicitation, and reckless endangerment. Previously, Cardi was only charged with 2 misdemeanors, and she had rejected the plea deal.
Cardi seems to be in a sticky situation and we’ll see if she can find her way out of this one. Rejecting the previous plea deal seems like she is confident she is innocent, but the stakes just got a whole lot higher.
Lil Nas X has released a new song, “Panini” that will be featured on his upcoming EP 7.
He went to Beats 1 with Zane Lowe to discuss the new song. Panini, he said, was the first time he recorded a song in a professional environment.
“’Old Town Road’ wasn’t done in a professional studio, that’s the thing,” he told Lowe. “It was never even mixed and mastered. Like the song that you hear today, it’s not mixed or mastered. That’s from the $20 bucks I paid [for] the rough mix. It was crazy, but it’s like everything else, like lately in my life.”
The song has the same melody as Nirvana’s ‘In Bloom’ off their generation-defining album Nevermind. Apparently Nas was not aware of this. “It’s like, I always seen the cover but I never actually listened to it,” he said. “And people was like, wow, he sampled Nirvana. I was like, no. It’s like, I didn’t realize I was using almost the exact same melody. I’ve been listening to it a lot lately, actually.”
I’m sure some music fans will be bewildered that someone that had a number 1 single on Billboard never listened to Nevermind. I don’t think that reaction is warranted because not only was the album released 28 years ago, it is nowhere near similar to the kind of music Lil Nas X makes. It’s fine to stay in your lane and cultivate your style.
Chris Brown has released a new single “Heat” for his upcoming album Indigo. Produced by Buddha Bless, the song is a collaboration with Gunna.
The track features spacey synthesizers and lavish harmonies and a catchy melody. Chris and Gunna each get their own verse, and join together on the chorus.
The content of the lyrics focuses mainly on how Chris Brown and Gunna’s fame and jewelry have got women lusting over them: “This drip got you in heat (This drip got you in heat)/Super wet, her juice is runnin’ down her knee, uh-uh”. Not the most generous portrayal of these women, but I’m sure to some extent, it is kind of accurate.
This song can be streamed on YouTube and Apple Music.
After teasing the song on social media, the hip hop group Migos has released a new song called “Stripper Bowl”.
The name of the song is a reference to the Migos’ label, Quality Control, hosting a party the day after the Super Bowl called Stripper Bowl. TMZ reported Boosie Badazz, YFN Lucci, Trey Songz, 2 Chainz, T.I., and New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara were all in attendance.
There is no news on a new Migos album and if this song is supposed to be on it. This is a lit song, and I look forward to more like this being dropped from the trio.
A new international TV spot featuring Beyonce and Donald Glover singing the Elton John classic “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” for The Lion King, has surfaced online.
The two singers play Simba and Nala, and Mufasa narrates the clip, saying, “”Look at the stars—the great kings look down on us from those stars. And so will I.”
Bill Eichner, who will play Timon in the movie, said in January that when he heard the two singing the duet, he cried. See if you have the same reaction, below
