To answer that question, one thing that is going on today was that a South Los Angeles Post Office was renamed after Marvin Gaye.
The former Dockweiler Post Office, located next to UCS on 3585 S. Vermont Avenue, is now called Marvin Gaye Post Office. The LA Times reported that the renaming was brought up in legislation by Representative Karen Bass.
Bass commented on the event and said, “Marvin Gaye’s music has transcended generations and gave the ’70s and ’80s a sound.”
The U.S. Postal Service also honored the late R&B singer with an official stamp in his honor.
Billie Eilish attempts to convince her fans to go vegan. This should get interesting.
She recently took to Instagram to share videos of how poorly cows are treated at one of the biggest dairy farms in the country, Fair Oak Farms in Indiana.
In her Instagram story, Billie wrote, “I keep my mouth shut most of the time about this because I believe everyone should do eat and say whatever they want..and I don’t feel the need to shove what I believe in, in anyone’s face, but man.. if you can watch the videos that I just posted and not give a fuck that its YOU contributing by LITERALLY EATING the creatures that are being fully tortured just for your pleasure. I feel sorry for you.”
She said that even one person going vegan adds up, “If you have half a brain, you should know ‘one person’ adds up… be smarter.” Good point, Billie Eyelash.
Overall, my feeling on veganism is it’s not for me. I am aware of the atrocities and I guess the ideal situation would be that I’m the only one on the planet who eats meat but that’s every person’s ideal situation so it doesn’t count for much.
Meek Mill lost $200,000 when the Toronto Raptors beat the Golden State Warriors last night. Though Meek has mentioned the bet in passing on Twitter before, evidence of the big loss came from a video of Meek and a friend who says, “$200K down, he good. Easy, come on. Super easy.”
As mentioned, Meek had referred to this bet in the past. On May 30th, he tweeted, “I’m betting whatever on the series if any of y’all rich guys from Toronto believe in y’all team against the warriors!!!!!”
If that wasn’t enough evidence, Meek tweeted a few days later, “I bet money on the warriors so I’m praying KD come back mannnnnnnn.”
Sucks to suck Meek, should’ve seen the Durant and Klay injuries coming. Hopefully you can see the future better next time, bud.
After recently announcing that Jay Z is the first rapper to become a billionaire, Forbes has released its list of hip hop’s next billionaires. Most interestingly, Kanye West has surpassed Drake to become the 4th wealthiest rapper. As the report attests, the reason for Kanye’s climb is due to his partnership with Adidas.
Dre is the second richest after Jay Z, at $800 million. Despite selling Beats by Dre to Apple for $3 billion, Forbes makes it clear that Dre is not a billionaire.
Diddy is 3rd, making him the highest paid producer. His fortune is approximately $740 million. Forbes is confident that he might pass Dre saying, “Ciroc, the main driver of his fortune, is growing again after case volumes fell from all-time highs in recent years—making the impresario perhaps the most likely candidate to join JAY-Z in the billion-dollar club.”
We’ll see who will join Jay Z as hip hop’s second billionaire. Comment your pick.
In Pittsburgh on Wednesday, Ariana Grande choked up during the line “Wish I could say, ‘Thank You’ to Malcom” of her song“Thank You, Next”. The audience finished the line for her, and cheered in honor of Mac. This was Ariana’s first time doing a concert in Mac’s hometown, and she was clearly very emotional.
She also couldn’t finish the opening song “Raindrops (An Angel Cried)” as she struggled to fight back tears.
The audience appreciated the performance and many commended her honor of her ex-boyfriend. This also included leaving a seat open for Mac, and playing his music through the loudspeakers before the show. That trend had started in March, but it felt that much more meaningful in Pittsburgh.
During an interview with The Fader, Playboi Carti said that he is working on a tape with Metro Boomin.
Carti said that they have made a bunch of music together, but finding the right songs and adjusting them has been an issue: “I got a whole ‘nother tape with this nigga. That’s why my head’s fucked up. This shit could go on my album, but if it goes on the album, then we gotta change the whole thing.”
He also made sure to reassure fans that the reason for the delay in releasing Whole Lotta Love is he’s aiming at perfection: “I could be done if I wanted to. I’m just trying to top shit. I might make the hardest song ever tomorrow.” I get where he’s coming from and I respect his drive, it’s just that he is going to be waiting a while if he’s waiting for perfection.
Carti mentioned some other unrelated topics in the interview such as how Atlanta is the home of hip hop: “This is the home of the whole hip-hop. Niggas ain’t fucking with us on this music shit, and I ain’t just talking about me. I’m talking about the next nigga that we don’t even know about right now, making a song. He’s from Atlanta.” I mean, he’s kinda right. Atlanta is really hot right now, and a lot of big names in the hip hop world, such as Gucci Mane and Migos, are coming from Atlanta.
