{MUSIC} PNB ROCK TRAPSTAR TURNT POPSTAR ALBUM REVIEW

{MUSIC} PNB ROCK TRAPSTAR TURNT POPSTAR ALBUM REVIEW

2019 has been very slow music wise. So far many expected Lil Uzi to release his long-anticipated album “Eternal Atake”, after getting released from his record label contract but it’s been quiet. Many people predicted that Dreamville would release there compilation album but yet again we were disappointed. That’s why Pnb Rock has and very well may end up with a top 5 album this year.

I’m not saying that because the music market has been slow so far, but his album wasn’t overshadowed by everybody else so it can stand out better. This is technical Pnb Rock debut album even though he released many projects prior and his last project “Catch These Vibes” he said was his debut but Atlantic thought different. On “Trapstar Turnt Popstar” Pnb gives you melodically, autotune singing and rapping style that many of his peers use such as Fetty Wap, A-Boogie, Lil Durk. This wave of rapping has the industry on fire right now because almost every up and coming artist sounds like this. So Fetty Wap and Pnb Rock had a major influence on the culture. Now back to the album, the original is laced with 18 tracks while the deluxe comes with an extra 5 tracks. Pnb has features from A Boogie, Tory Lanez, Lil Skies, Roddy Ricch, Youngboy, Lil Wayne, XXXTentacion, and Lil Durk.

Pnb caught a lot of hate for switching his style on his projects but fans will be highly impressed and satisfied with the sound of this album. The Intro track ” Dreamin” sets the tone of the album with Pnb switching between rapping and singer and starting the album off with a banger. Pnb ability to keep the balance between the two is what makes this album that much better. With tracks like “Penny Proud”, “Put You On”, “I Need More”, ” Now or Never 2.0″ are some examples on the album were exhibit that balance. Pnb Storytelling is an underrated ability of his and you realize that on tracks ” Middle Child”, “Nowadays”, “Take My Soul”, and “Evolved”, Pnb tells his come up story. Pnb could cut this album in half and split it between rap and R&B with mood music like ” Choosin”, “My Ex”, “How It Feels”, and “HMP”, give the album that vibe for the girls to get ready too.

This is a very solid project for Pnb Rock, A lot of the features fit perfectly with the track they’re on without outshining Pnb rock. The album has some songs that you have to be in the mood to listen too but for that reason, the project will age well. Pnb picked the perfect time to release his project being as new music so hard to come by currently. You can check out Trapstar turnt Popstar on all major media platforms.

[Music] Tyler The Creator Announces New Album

[Music] Tyler The Creator Announces New Album

Tyler The Creator announced his new project,Igor, earlier this afternoon via Twitter. The album is his fifth studio project and the follow up to Flower Boy; his most accomplished work both critically and commercially.

The album, due out on May 17, was partially teased via social media earlier last week, when Tyler tweeted out what appears to be a promotional video. The music from the video sounds like a classic Tyler track: low fidelity production with synths echoing throughout.

No official track list or singles have been released as of yet, but one would expect that stuff is coming soon. Tyler has undergone quite the evolution since the start of his Odd Future days. His sound has gone from edgy, shock lyrics to vibrant and mature songs that have really made him a better artist.

[News] Travis Scott and Pharrell Williams praise SoundCloud

[News] Travis Scott and Pharrell Williams praise SoundCloud

In a teaser clip of an upcoming episode of The Shop: Uninterrupted, Travis Scott and Pharrell Williams are seen discussing the influence of the streaming service, SoundCloud. Pharrell started off by calling millennials “gifts to the species” because they grew up online and are “all about sharing”. Travis then made the connection with SoundCloud, a streaming service widely used by millennials, and praised the immediate upload nature of the site.

He said, “I was doing this interview, man, for Playboy, right? And the interview guy was like, he was saying my generation was SoundCloud rappers, and I was like, ‘Wait, pause.’ I had to tell him, like, you got it twisted. SoundCloud was there for us because SoundCloud understood, like, we wanna drop a song right now. We’re not trying to wait for any load-up”. Travis then went on to say that this dramatically increased the speed of recording and that even the step of recording notes on paper or iPhones was bypassed and that the songs came “off the brain”.

Pharrell added on to that last point and said that “feeling is your GPS, first and foremost. If it doesn’t feel right, I ain’t give a fuck what you’re saying, or what you’re talking about. Right, it’s your spirit, and people can see that”.

It seems that both Pharrell and Travis are praising the spontaneity of the instant uploading that happens on SoundCloud. However, I still wonder though if trial and error still holds value in this world. After all, humans are prone to mistakes so somebody’s spontaneous reaction might in fact not be as powerful as the second or third reaction. To compromise, an artist shouldn’t shy away from his or her gut reaction, but just make sure it’s the best one.

[News] Kodak Black buys 7,600 notebooks for campaign to help kids

[News] Kodak Black buys 7,600 notebooks for campaign to help kids

Kodak Black has been in the news often recently, mostly for the wrong reason. Now he seems to be turning things around, as TMZ reports that the rapper is helping Paige Cook’s campaign to donate 7,600 notebooks and 60,000 pencils to students in the Cleburne Independent School District in Texas. Many in that district come from low-income families and could really use the help.

Cook’s goal was originally only 40,000 pencils but this year raised the goal by adding notebooks and 20,000 pencils. Bradford Cohen, Kodak Black’s lawyer, told TMZ that Kodak picked up the tab for the notebooks, by donating $12,500.

Kodak has done some positive philanthropy in the past, such as donating $10,000 to a children’s hospital in Florida. But like I said, Kodak has had some image problems recently, with the inappropriate flirting with Lauren London, beefing with Lil Wayne, and being busted at the border for carrying weapons in his tour bus.

I’m not sure exactly what Kodak’s motivations are and even if he really doesn’t care about charity and is only donating to save face, people in need are still getting the money. I wonder if Kodak would have done this if he had not had such negative press recently.

[News] Post Malone starts marijuana company “Shaboink”

[News] Post Malone starts marijuana company “Shaboink”

Post Malone is reportedly getting into the weed game. According to TMZ, Post is set to launch his own marijuana brand called “Shaboink”. The public was introduced to the company at Hall of Flowers, a cannabis trade show in Santa Rosa, California. Various products will be sold by Shaboink such as flower, grinders, pre-rolls, vapes, and rolling papers. The weed will be grown in California by weed brand Hemper.

I was actually surprised to hear this news because I remembered reading in 2017 that Post Malone had quit smoking weed because of a bad reaction to a laced joint. Despite this, Posty has publicly endorsed the worldwide legalization of marijuana and even told TMZ in 2016, “Weed is good for everybody. Ain’t nobody die for that shit. People die from drinking and driving every fucking day.“

Shaboink will launch on July 4, on Post Malone’s 24th birthday. As of now, the brand will only be available at California-based dispensaries.
