[Sports] Russell Wilson Signs Record Breaking Contract with Seahawks

Russell Wilson has agreed to a new contract extension with the Seattle Seahawks. The deal was made during the wee hours of the night, coming terms with an agreement during the final moments of Wilson’s preset April 15 deadline. The deal, per Ian Rapoport, is reported to be for four years and $140 million.

The contract will make Wilson the highest paid quarterback in the league, making an annual $35 million per year. Wilson will be staying in Seattle for the foreseeable future, guaranteeing at least five more years as the head signal caller. As per the agreement, Wilson will make $65 million just from the signing bonus alone.

With the signing imminent, this will dispel the rumors that Wilson was not happy in Seattle and was looking for a change in scenery. It was rumored that Wilson wanted to play for the New York Giants, and was playing hard ball with the Seahawks to force his way to the Big Apple. New York is desperate to find a successor to long time QB Eli Manning and would have pounced at the chance to acquire Wilson.

Wilson will remain at the head of the Seahawks franchise and enters 2019 looking to get to his third Super Bowl. The Seahawks ended last season with a loss to the Dallas Cowboys in the postseason.

[Sports] Budweiser Releases Incredible Dwyane Wade Tribute

[Sports] Budweiser Releases Incredible Dwyane Wade Tribute

https://twitter.com/budweiserusa/status/1115600248322383873

Budweiser released a Dwyane Wade tribute video this morning and it is truly incredible. It’s not a highlight reel of Wade’s best plays on the court, it’s more of reflection of who he is off the court. The video features five different people who were affected by Dwyane’s leadership and impact he had on the city of Miami.

It’s a great introspective how athletes can transcend the sport they play and the actual things they do when they are off the court. The people in the video include the sister of a Parkland survivor, a scholarship recipient, a woman who lost her home to a fire, a young man who looked up to Wade in his youth, and his own mother.

The video itself is incredibly emotional and shows Wade to be such an inspirational figure. The world is going to miss Dwyane Wade the basketball player, but we’re sure lucky to still have Dwyane Wade the person in this world.

[Sports] Antonio Brown Takes Shots at Former Teammate JuJu Smith-Schuster

[Sports] Antonio Brown Takes Shots at Former Teammate JuJu Smith-Schuster

Antonio Brown started a social media war with former Pittsburgh teammate, and fellow wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster. The beef started yesterday and has spilled over into today, so let’s take a stroll down the old Twitter thread to see where the online spice began.

Brown kicks things off with a seemingly normal piece of advice. Keeping your emotions off of social media is a good thing to adhere to; it keeps people out of trouble. Good job AB, you’re killing the Twitter game!

Oh, boy. Things are starting to get a little sour here and its only been roughly 45 minutes between tweets, but surely Brown will keep his emotions offline. Right?

Folks, I have some bad news: Antonio Brown is extremely mad online. Completely disregarding his own Twitter advice from an hour and half prior, Mr. Big Chest himself is taking shots at his former teammate. Not a great look for someone who claims to not be mad. Antonio Brown comes across as a lunatic here, but let’s see how JuJu responds, maybe he’ll take the bait and try and stir the pot even more.

Completely rational response from Juju here. Textbook stuff. A little petty response with the emotions tweet, but then some appropriate confusion over the whole situation. He doesn’t sharpen his pitchfork to go after AB, so certainly Brown will realize he was wrong and try to settle things. The ever so, level headed Brown has to feel a little bad for throwing JuJu under the bus.

I honestly have no idea if the Instagram post is supposed to be a diss. It honestly makes zero sense. It makes such little sense that it may also be one of the best chirps of all time, like a double negative type deal. He’s hating on JuJu for reaching out to him while he was still at USC looking for advice from a pro. The DM JuJu sent was lovely, so why is Brown using it to make roast the man. Antonio Brown’s social media use is warping my mind and creating significant brain damage. Tough scene for AB all around here, and something tells me he isn’t done talking quite yet.

[Sports] Odell Beckham Jr. Is Officially a Cleveland Brown

[Sports] Odell Beckham Jr. Is Officially a Cleveland Brown

This afternoon, the Cleveland Browns officially introduced star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to the team. They held a press conference that featured Beckham alongside quarterback Baker Mayfield, defensive end Myles, and fellow wide out and former LSU teammate Jarvis Landry.

Beckham was introduced by new head coach Freddie Kitchens as he was quoted earlier in the week about being excited for the arrival of the superstar, and he would be wanting to give Beckham a big hug upon his arrival to the team.

The day was mostly just a formality and a chance to let the press ask him some question and give fans the chance to see Beckham rocking his new threads.

One of the highlights came from QB Baker Mayfield when he quipped, “This is the most people we’ve had in this room, ever.”

Beckham, who was traded from the New York Giants a few weeks ago, said that he was both “shocked” and very “emotional” after hearing the news from NY GM Dave Gettleman. He’s already looking ahead to his new chapter with Cleveland, expressing his excitement to be playing with his best friend Jarvis Landry.

One thing is for sure, all eyes will be on Cleveland heading into the 2019 season, something that would’ve been a far cry just two years ago.

[SPORTS] BASEBALL IS BACK, HEREā€™S WHAT HAPPENED SO FAR

[SPORTS] BASEBALL IS BACK, HEREā€™S WHAT HAPPENED SO FAR

Americaā€™s pastime is back and the first series of the season are in the books. What exactly happened in the first four days of the new baseball season.

The baseball season actually started in Japan about a week ago when the Seattle Mariners took on the Oakland Athletics in a two game series. In what would be Ichiro Suzukiā€™s last games in the MLB, the Mariners swept the Aā€™s across the pond 9-7 and 5-4.

Back here on Friday was when every team started to play ball. The biggest game of Opening Day was between the New York Mets and the Washington Nationals. Both teams had their pest pitchers on the mound, Cy Young winner Jacob DeGrom for the Mets and Max Scherzer for the Nats, but the game was decided by only two runs as the Mets continued to be the best Opening Day team.

The only remaining undefeated team after this Opening Day weekend are the Philadelphia Phillies. With Bryce Harper now on the Philsā€™, they really are the team to beat out in the National League East. Harper wasnā€™t too hot at the plate in his first game as a Phillie, and the fans in Philadelphia let him hear it. He would smack two long homers after the boos on Friday in the games against the Atlanta Braves on Saturday and Sunday.

These were the bigger stories from Opening Day, but here are a couple quick storylines that deserve to be touched upon: The Red Sox signed Xander Bogaerts to a six-year extension worth $132 million. Giancarlo Stanton went on the 10-day injured list for the New York Yankees. Trea Turner and Christian Yelich both hit the first walk-off hits of the season on Sunday.

[SPORTS] PORZINGIS KNEE DEEP IN TROUBLE

[SPORTS] PORZINGIS KNEE DEEP IN TROUBLE

Even when heā€™s out of New York, Kristaps Porzingis is still a topic of drama. Now the former New York Knick is in serious legal trouble.

Porzingis was accused of raping a 29-year-old woman in his apartment building hours after seriously hurting his knee last year.

The assault happened in February of 2018 and since then, the woman has been communicating with the Knicks and Porzingisā€™ legal representation. Supposedly, Prozingis offered the woman $68 thousand to never talk about the incident or bring it up with police. The woman wanted to ā€œmediate in privateā€ with the Knicks and Prozingis about said money, which she would have used to help pay for her brotherā€™s college tuition.

According to the woman, her and Porzingis lived in the same apartment building and she wanted an autograph from him after the game in which he hurt his knee. The encounter was ā€œextremely aggressiveā€ according to the woman. With the $68 thousand payment, the woman stated that Porzingis was willing to co-sign a statement saying he would pay her. Porzingis and his attorney believe this is ā€œa forgery.ā€

The New York Police Department has not said anything about investigating the situation, but federal law enforcement is looking into the issue on the behalf of Porzingis and his legal team. The NBA, Knicks, and the Dallas Mavericks, Porzingisā€™ current team, are aware of the situation.

What do you think is going on? Is Porzingis telling the truth? Leave a comment below.
