According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the New York Giants will not be retaining three time Pro-Bowl safety Landon Collins.
The Giants have informed Collins that they will not be using the franchise tag on him, and he will become an unrestricted free agent. Collins was one of the best defensive players on the Giants’ roster and is regarded as one of the best safeties in the league. He will be highly pursued in free agency by several teams.
Collins had expressed his opinion on not wanting to play next season under the franchise tag and was seeking a long term offer. The team decided to let him go in order to keep the $11 million in cap space to go after other players. Giants general manager Dave Gettleman has received some flak from the media and the fans for his poor management of finances. It has been pointed out that the team could cut longtime quarterback Eli Manning and save $17 million. The team could then cover the expense of Collins and still have extra money to pursue other cheaper QB options.
The Giants have had a losing record for five out of the past six seasons, marking extreme lows for the franchise. Over the last two years, the talent from the defensive ball has floundered and Collins leaves an even bigger hole in an already weak unit. With the talent that Collins possesses, he should fetch a big deal this coming free agency period.

This past weekend, NFL hopeful D.K. Metcalf took the combine and internet by storm. Standing at a staggering 6-foot-3 and 228 pounds, torched the 40-yard dash with a 4.33, busted out 27 reps of 225 on the bench press and jumped out the gym recording a 40.5 inch vertical. To put that into perspective, the average vertical for a human is 12 to 16 inches.
Declaring for the NFL Draft after his redshirt season at Ole Miss, D.K is on his way to a familiar path previously set forth by father, (former Ole Miss guard Terrance), grandfather (St. Louis Cardinals running back Terry) and uncle (Pro Bowl returner Eric). Given his physical stature, it’s not surprising that D.K. comes from a bloodline and family tree of elite athletes. In his final season with the Ole Miss Rebels, Metcalf recorded 26 catches for 569 yards and five touchdowns in seven starts. Although, he was unable to finish the season before suffering from a season-ending neck injury. He was an SEC All-Freshman pick, starting all 12 games and grabbing 39 passes for 646 yards and seven touchdowns. In 2016, during his “true” freshman season, he broke his foot in just the second game of the season. D.K. Metcalf has had his fair share of the injury bug throughout his young career, but his recent combine results show that should have no effect on what looks to be the next young star of the NFL.
The Los Angeles Lakers, following a surprising 118-109 loss
to the Phoenix Suns on Saturday, have dropped to a 30-33 record on the season.
Everything is going wrong in LA.
LeBron and the Lakers have only won four games in their last
12. Their season has had it’s ups and down, notably beating teams more superior
to them like the Boston Celtics and having Lebron out with an injury (the
longest he’s ever been out in his career.)
It’s surprising. Everyone thought that Magic Johnson was
going to build an All-Star team led by LeBron James but they are essentially
and Lebron led team and everyone around him are either young and inexperienced
still or scrap players that teams last are now better without. It reminds me of
what happened with the Cleveland Cavaliers last year, but they made the
playoffs and went to the NBA Championships.
So how do you fix them. For starters, Johnson has to make a
splash in the upcoming free agent offseason. Anthony Davis is practically a guarantee
considering that he wants out of New Orleans and Los Angeles is where he
actually lives. Other players that the Lakers need to sign could be Kevin
Durant, Kyrie Irving (if he wants to play with LeBron again,) DeMarcus Cousins
and Kawhi Leonard. One of these guys will make you that much more of a threat
in the league that’s spearheaded by the Golden State Warriors, who will
probably repeat their reign as champs this season. The Lakers also don’t need
any rental player like Carmelo Anthony, who they wanted on the team since the
trade deadline. He’s an older player but would have a great chemistry with
James.
Right now, this Lakers team was not what anyone expected.
They won’t be what we wanted them to be until maybe next season, or the season
after that. It’s a matter of who they can land on the free agant market, how
their younger player develop under LeBron James, and if James can keep playing
like LeBrom James
After the San Diego Padres signed All-Star free agent Manny
Machado to a mega contract worth $300 million, it only left Bryce Harper left
in the MLB offseason free agency sweepstakes. And the Philadelphia Phillies landed
him in a spectacular fashion.
The Phillies signed the former Washington Nationals
outfielder to a 13-year, $330 million deal. The contract includes a no-trade
clause and no opt-outs. The 26-year-old is here to stay in Philly for the long
run.
Over the past week, Harper had meetings with some teams that
were interested in signing him. The Phillies and the San Francisco Giants were
the only teams who had second meetings with the All-Star outfielder.
The signing of Harper is the largest for any right-fielder
in MLB history. Besides the contract, his jersey is already selling extremely
well. On Fanatics.com, his jersey is the fastest selling jersey for any player
in any sport over a 24-hour period. He’s raking in more than just homeruns, and
it’s the offseason.
Harper deserves a big contract due to his status as one of
the best players in the game, arguably number two behind Los Angeles Angels
outfielder Mike Trout. Harper also had career lows at the plate and did not
perform as expected from a player his caliber. The Phillies know what they’re
getting and Harper should be the player we know he is entering the 2019 season.
What do you think of the Harper deal? Are the Phillies the
World Series Champs this year? Leave a comment below.
After a looooonnnngggg offseason of waiting, Bryce Harper has finally signed a deal with the Philadelphia Phillies per Jon Heyman.
Harper has agreed to a 13 year $330 million deal, making it the highest free agent contract ever handed out in the history of professional sports. The former NL MVP isn’t moving too far from Washington and is staying within the division to continue his reign of terror amongst the NL East. The finer details of the contract are still being figured out, but Harper has, at long last, found a new home.
Philadelphia has had a monster offseason adding a handful of other All-Stars like shortstop Jean Segura, catcher J.T. Realmuto, and outfielder Andrew McCutchen. The team adds on to a plethora of young talent and have become automatic World Series contenders with this gigantic acquisition. Harper should be joining the team for spring training as soon as the ink is officially dry on the contract.

Ja Rule, the mastermind behind a collection of hit songs and the disastrous Fyre Festival, was back in the news today when he took to twitter to curse the Sacramento Kings and Minnesota Timberwolves.
Taking a note from Lil B, Ja Rule is throwing out curses on both the Kings and Timberwolves. It’s clear from his Twitter account that the Milwaukee Bucks are in his good graces, but the Kings and T-Wolves are in hot water with the rapper. In order to lift the curse, he’s demanding an apology after both team Twitter accounts clowned him for being involved in the recent Fyre Festival scam. Both teams have had some pretty funny responses over the past couple hours and don’t appear too worried about any curse being placed.
Ja Rule should know better, Lil B is the only person in the world that can throw down curses on teams; no one else. The BasedGod is an all powerful being and is the only one with a say when it comes to NBA curses. We’ll see if the Ja Rule curse is real or not, but for now, if you’re an NBA team, Lil B is the only man to fear when it comes to Twitter curses.
