They started off strong and I was really excited about this new ALT rock station. I thought it was great to have a station that played my favorite genre of music. I was expecting them to play more relevant alt-rock since that is the point but a few months later it seems like they are moving away from their original goal.
Overall 92.3 created an alt-rock station to play alt-rock but they seem to be moving away from this sound to put songs that are primary indie pop or alt-rock songs that have a pop influence. It seems like they are not doing too great and want to appeal to the masses so that the majority will still listen, but that isn’t the point of an alt-rock station. I think there has to be another alt-rock station to compete that actually stays true to their original message. It is also the first few months of their release so I hope they fix the kinks to be a great collective station.
Beyonce was the first black woman to headline Coachella, which is shocking because it is 2018. She made an effort to show her black roots and created a performance that was more than just music- it also revolved around culture.
She was supposed to perform at the 2017 Coachella but due to her pregnancy she had to back out and her performance was replaced with Lady GaGa. Since she had a year to prepare she certainly took all that time to produce one of the best performances of her career and one of the best performances on the Coachella stage.
She managed to pay homage to her roots of the black South while also incorporating her influence in American pop. She performed gracefully and powerfully, displaying black excellence to an audience that has ties to racial ignorance.
The performance almost felt like the SuperBowl with numerous light shows, fireworks and a large number of background dancers. With her dazzling black crown punctuated by pops of gold- she was the queen of the night.
Not only was she able to show her black southern roots, she sang verses of “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” also known as the Black National Anthem. In a time of such political corruption, this is really what the crowd needed. She also included references to the big names of the civil rights movement. From Nina Simone to Malcolm X and Chimamanda Adichie- she really turned this performance into a landmark of her career. Malcolm X’s quote, “the most disrespected woman in America is the black woman” was broadcast all throughout the crowd.
Even though she is famous, she is still in touch with her black identity that most singers in her position ignore due to their success- for example, Michael Jackson.
She turned her performance into a show of resilience, black culture and power. She has cemented her name in the industry and has no plan on silencing her voice. This was one of the best performances of all time and one of the most moving performances to happen on the Coachella stage. I wonder how she is going to top this. Her voice will never be silenced and injustice will continue to happen unless powerful people in the industry speak up about it.
What better way to celebrate Friday the 13th other than listening to your most haunting and chilling tracks. Friday the 13th might be full of bad luck but this playlist certainly isn’t.
Feeling like October in April, the chilling energy is in the air. The spirits have finally woken up and demand to be heard. Even though it is the hottest day in the past few months, that isn’t going to stop bad luck from occurring.
In honor of this “holiday” here are my favorite songs that are not afraid to get dark:
For this week’s MCM, some of RecMetro’s staff interviewed reality star Mr. Edward “Adonis” Williams from MTV’s season 5 of “Are You The One?” and season 31’s “The Challenge”.
4/9/17
What’s going on Guys! We are here with Mr. Williams from MTV’s hit television show, “Are You The One”
So Mr. Williams! How did you get on MTV’S “Are You The One”?
I applied for it. It was the modeling stuff that caught their eyes.
What made you want to become a male strippeer?
It was on my bucket list. Someone asked and I said hell yeah it was on my bucket list. I made $400 in 30 minutes and I was like hell yeah I’m going to keep doing it.
How your parents feel about you stripping?
My dad’s cool with it and he even comes to the shows. Mom doesn’t, but expected this to happen.
Do you have any best friends?
I have a best friend Ronnie. We met at my job and we became crazy close. We became brothers. I helped out with his cooking. He’s a chef. I told him this was how he was going to make it out. His instagram: @cooking_whit_ron
Since being on MTV and keeping in shape, have any gyms tried to sponsor you?
I am a brand ambassador for many companies. Me and my Dad do advocare. I am an advisor for the company.
Do you get any stalkers from time to time?
I get a lot of stalkers. Have to constantly put them on the block list. Random people would call me on snapchat. People would ask me to do porn and send d*** pics. I tell them to come to the shows. Anything goes!
Do you have interest in music? Who is an artist that stands out from the rest in your opinion? What do you listen to?
Yes, I feel it’s a good way to express yourself. Chris Brown, but with my boys we are listening to lil durk. My playlist is all sex music but when I am with my boys its all gangsta shit!
Do you have anything else going on?
I’m featured on a documentary called “Strip” that was featured in a movie festival. We shot in Canada and had a camera crew following us around. It got the International Independent Documentary, and Hollywood Independent Documentary Awards. I’m also getting into acting. I will be coming to a tv screen near you. In April I have a casting for Marvel, they’re looking for people who are in unbelievable shape.
What do you look for in a mate?
This is where it gets good! I don’t ask for too much but I want a woman thats independent. Someone that has goals. Jay and Beyonce type of relationship. We can work together and has to have intentions on making money. Business minded with a fatass. She can be a little freak!
If you found the one tomorrow would you give up stripping?
She has to accept it plus there’s a chance it might not work out.
Even if she was a millionaire?
That’s her money. I’m independent.
Interviewer:

Elijah The ComicBook is an independent rapper right now in the New Brunswick area that is promoting his music off of SoundCloud.
Follow his SoundCloud here:
He just started his career and it seems really promising. “Shoe Strings” is a strong R&B track. He also has more powerful tracks to display his talent like “Leaving You Right Here” which is more of a slow track. “Officer America” is my personal favorite as it plays on dark themes. Overall Elijah The ComicBook has what it takes to make it.

A hilarious video of an employee at a basketball game is surfacing around the internet. It shows the dance cam going around to fans to put them on the big screen. The camera then pans to an employee who works there and it is one of the funniest things I have seen this year. Not only can he dance, he does backflips and shows off his incredible moves.
One could have only guessed that this worker had the moves of a professional backup dancer? He truly seems humble about it, trying to take the camera off of himself- but with all the attention on him, he didn’t disappoint. I have been scream laughing at this video for the entire day now. I wish the internet would make wholesome things like this big more often. I hope it put a smile on your face- hey maybe white people can dance!
