[AN ACTUALLY GOOD RADIO TRACK] “FRIENDS”

There is a new song that is appearing all over the radio right now and it’s blowing up. The song is entitled, “FRIENDS” by Marshmello and Anne-Marie. The song is described to be the friend zone anthem. Being friend zoned can be described as when you want to take your relationship with your friend to the next level but the other person doesn’t want to. This typically creates a very messy situation in which the people can no longer be friends, or someone is caught constantly trying to chase someone who is not interested. That whole situation can be pretty annoying especially when you have told the person that you are not interested and they keep pursuing it. The song capitalizes on all those feelings and it is certainly an anthem.

Check out the song here:

Not only is the song really good but the animations for the lyric video are great. It gives a great look at the inside of the song’s story.

They also have a music video that has about 60 million views as of right now:

The lyrics of the chorus go:

[Chorus: Anne-Marie]
Haven’t I made it obvious?
Haven’t I made it clear?
Want me to spell it out for you?
F-R-I-E-N-D-S
Haven’t I made it obvious?
Haven’t I made it clear?
Want me to spell it out for you?
F-R-I-E-N-D-S
F-R-I-E-N-D-S

I actually thought when she was singing “F-R-I-E-N-D-S” that she was just mouthing random words so I thought this was pretty hilarious.

Overall this is a great radio song that I actually like. It might have the typical cliches but I think it’s a great look at how annoying your “friends” can be when you have clearly stated you weren’t interested in them. The song has a certain swag about it to make you instantly dance like Rihanna. I even dance in my car to this song. The beat behind the song in the chorus is really infectious. I guess you can call this my guilty pleasure.

AZEALIA BANKS FINALLY DROPS HER MUSIC VIDEO FOR “SODA”

Azealia Banks, a name we don’t hear from a lot, just dropped a video for a song she put out four years ago. She is a rapper and singer from Harlem who got big from her single in 2011, “212” featuring Lazy Jay. Since her big blow up she has ruined her name by getting into pointless fights, which takes away from her talent as a rapper. Even though a lot of people don’t necessarily support her anymore she will have a place in my heart.

She just released her video for “SODA” a track that was on her 2014 release Broke With Expensive Taste. I hope the five-year wait was worth it!

Check out the video here:

Banks has always been great at giving amazing visuals for her songs. She is shown in a beautiful yellow dress walking through the desert with a black strip around her eyes to show that she can see but she still has a mask on. The best part of this song happens at the end of the song during the chorus variation as she sings,

I’m trying to hide behind tired eyes, I sigh
I’m tired of trying to try not to cry and
I say soda soda, I’m a high rolla- yo sir
I pose for the poster- Yep!
Icy Cola Coke-a, Sprite I love the most-a!
I ride rollercoasters, I try all the cultures
A smile, a guise
Nighttime is mine, and my eyes are wide at night

She plans to be releasing her Fantasea 2 project, which is reportedly coming in early summer.

HAILEE STEINFELD’S “LET ME GO” IS TRASH

“Let Me Go” by Hailee Steinfeld and Alesso featuring Florida Georgia Line is a song that has been blowing up over the past few weeks. I’ve been hearing it on a lot of local radio stations and it has spent 22 weeks on the Billboard chart and it continues to climb.

Listen to the song here:

The first part that really annoys me about this song is that is it generic. Obviously. Not only is it a generic pop song, the lyrics are so horrible that I can’t even sing along with it.

She sings,

“I’ve been hoping somebody loves you in the ways I couldn’t
Somebody’s taking care of all of the mess I’ve made
Someone you don’t have to change
I’ve been hoping someone will love you, let me go”

I know there is a lot of breakup songs out there but this one is just selfish.

I have re-written what the lyrics ACTUALLY mean here:

“I’ve been thinking of you because I’m bored with my life!
Sorry for traumatizing you and making you not believe in love
Wish you could have done that to me so I wouldn’t have felt so bad
And I’m probably only singing this because the karma I have been getting from it is really starting to become a b*tch
I hope someone loves you because I led you on and I am not going to accept the fact that I also had a part in the reason we fell off but I’m just going to act like the bigger person and write a song about it for pity from other people!”

You can’t break up with someone and then go to tell people that you hope someone loves them. That was your job!? Then at the end of this chorus where she claims she feels bad about the situation she has the nerve to put in the lyric, “let me go.”

The whole song is condescending and if you actually find yourself singing along to it maybe you should readjust how you look at yourself and figure out that once you hurt someone, they owe you nothing. Also, Hailee Steinfeld, I’m pretty sure the person who you wrote this about doesn’t wish you the best. You can’t just “make a mess” and then become the victim? Ridiculous but hilarious.

IF YOU HATE MUMBLE RAP- YOU WILL LOVE HOPSIN

Hopsin is American rapper as well as a record producer, director and actor. He is an independent rapper who isn’t afraid to speak his mind on tracks. Wearing white contacts for his stage persona, he isn’t the typical rapper that talks about hoes and money, but someone who brings light to important societal issues that are so prevalent, but no one is willing to change it.

Just check out his best work, “ILL MIND OF HOPSIN 5:”

He brings light to the fact that society is brainwashing us to comply. By rapping, he releases his inner turmoil and frustration of the state of the world today. Hopsin did not have an easy come up. He dropped out of high school to pursue a career in music and worked hard to maintain true to the rapper he is today.

Mumble rappers these days seem to be doing everything he is against. They stick to cheap ways to get their song famous by making a fool of themselves to get publicity. People claim that it takes very little talent to do this, but they are getting a huge amount of fame with very little to no lyrics. People who support traditional rap have a lot to say about this new trend, and none of them are practically happy.

Hopsin is a known hater of mumble rap and he released a video for his song, “No Words” back in 2015, when mumble rap was just on the brink of getting big. (I wonder how he feels now?)

Check out the hilarious, “No Words” here:

He raps,

Man, rap today fucking sucks bad, I don’t give a fuck what anybody says
These fools ain’t spittin’ no type of dope shit, but that’s not even the bad part; they’re not even saying words anymore
They just got a hard-ass fuckin’ beat to trick dumb-asses like you to make you think you like the shit
Play that fuckin’ beat!
We got some real fuckin’ mentally retarded rappers in the game
I know for a fact nobody know what the fuck these dudes be saying!
Wait, turn my reverb and my auto-tune on real quick
This what the fuck they be doing
[Intro]
Yeah, haha, yeah!
Shawty, let’s make money!
Turn up!
[Verse]
I put it Rollie, I’m drinkin’ straight lean
A bitch is straight feelin’ my diamonds (my diamond)
I roll in the city, my nigga, you got me
The shit, man, that’s hit, on my mama (Brrrrp!)
And give me some ugh! (Bow)
Robbing them, nigga, and fool (I holla)
Embedded the money, I got us some putty, some butter
Hakuna Matata! (Tata! Tata! Tata!) (turn up!)
I am tellin’ you niggas
I’ll bury yo’ daddy for taking my lotion (I know you)
I been taming your barrel, I say what I said
When I’m saying “my lotion!” (Gimme my lotion!)
I been giving you money, my niggas
And niggas’ll go a lil crazy (Go, Go!)
I went to the doctor, he looked at my dick
And he said I got rabies! (Dang!)
[Pre-Hook]
A lotta niggas tryna figure out
She gonna do a nigga big, I know
I’m on the jury duty’s corners standin’ big, I know
I’m standin’ big, I know
I want it big, I know (I know, I know)
[Hook]
I know, I know
I know, I know, I got it big, I know
I know, I know
I know, I know, I got it big, I know
I got it big, I know
I got it big, I know
I got it big, I know
I know, I know
[Outro]
Now watch these dumbasses be like
“Aye, that shit was hard though, bruh!”

So love mumble rap or hate it, this video is still pretty funny. Hopsin even does it better than most of the rappers out there, which shows his fans that he could easily sell out to make a profit, but he doesn’t. Hopsin is a talented rapper that deserves a lot more credit. So many rappers are becoming super famous and they don’t even have half his talent- no wonder he is pissed. Don’t change your flow to get big Hopsin. Amongst all the bullsh*t Hopsin has stayed true to himself and his talent has shined through.
